A great source for understanding nutrition and proper diet.

In a clincal study the learn program was found as efficacious as a weight loss medication, while both used together was even more potent.
There is no magic in this book, just the simple compilation of years of research done by behavioral scientists to help us overcome the usual barriers to weight loss. One cornerstone technique is the journaling of food eaten. You finish a new chapter a week, adding new layers of knowledge and technique, also documenting in a more sophisticated way.
This method could be applied to any diet plan (low carb, etc - really though they recommend healthy macronutrient selection - and not one known to cause kidney stones - the atkins). All diets will usually use some form of journaling, but the journaling here is worth getting to know.
I'm not only a recommender of this book in obesity management, I'm also a member of NAASO - and so are many of the researchers associated with this book. In my mind, that equals the physicians good housekeeping seal of approval.
Like many, I too am obese, and am presently trying to follow this program. It's not easy.
It is however, not a fad diet, or some silly venture you won't be doing in 6 months. It's a well designed program designed to help you go where you want to go. It is designed after the outpatient program run by the author at his university, and has been used in multiple clicical trails.
