I first saw this book at Sam's Club and I bought it for my then third grade daughter's reading book. By third grade, she was at the point where she needed to build other reading skills besides decoding. (This book does not cover any decoding.) The book is in two parts-- the stories up front and the activities in the back. The skills in the back cover things like cause/effect, sequencing, retelling the story, point of view, etc.

The pictures in the book are very nice and the stories are well written. When it was time to pick out a skills book for my son for third grade, I could no longer find it at Sam's and ordered it from Amazon.
