"Just a little about myself. I'm a professional speaker and I have traveled to Israel (as a tour leader) on multiple occasions. and I have a close friend with a Ph.D. in Hebrew from Duke Divinity School, and he and I get together every Tuesday to discuss the Hebrew Scriptures. So... what I'm about to say about this little treasure trove of a book that is more like a children's book than an academic workbook may surprise you.
First, it over-delivers on its promise. Granted, I have more background than most readers, but classic Hebrew as taught in higher learning institutions is short on pronunciation and long on grammar. In a span of just six hours of reading the digital version, I was reading Hebrew with a modern pronunciation. When it comes to Yod and Khof and Viv and a host of other vowel SOUNDS, the pictographic illustrations in this book forever settled that I will not revert to academic pronunciations that sounds more Spanish than Hebrew. For those who say, "But I don't even know the Hebrew alphabet!" the "Six Week's" promise may apply, but you can absolutely put your trust in the author's promise.
Second, the writing is clear (and funny), and though I read 16th century English tomes and am accustomed to the dry and dull narrative of most linguistic writers, I found that laughing at pictures fires more neurons in my brain than rote repetition of vowel charts. I realize my Ph.D. friends may judge me for what I'm saying, but this is is an Amazon review designed to help people determine if they should buy a book. Short answer: Absolutely. No matter your level of learning.
Finally, I did a little research on the author through free You Tube videos and found her teaching of Hebrew visually and audibly replicate what she's written in this book. Maybe it's just me, but when I read a book that "feels" like I'm hearing someone speak, I remember much more than from a book that "feels" like someone is laboriously writing.
So, I give the book 5 Stars (as it seems most others are doing), and truthfully, I'd give it more if possible. I have all kinds of Hebrew learning tools in my library, and this one has soared to the top of my recommendation list." - Wade Burleson --This text refers to the paperback edition.

About the author

Hi! I'm Miiko. I'm a mom of 9 living in Beersheba, Israel with a passion for teaching people Hebrew. I invented a fun, easy method that helps people of all ages learn to read Hebrew easily using fun memory tricks to help remember the sounds of the letters. It makes me so happy to hear the stories of people around the world who have succeeded with my method after thinking they could never learn to read Hebrew.
I was born in Florida, grew up in Canada and moved to Israel with my husband Aaron and our 5 small kids in 2007. Besides teaching Hebrew, I'm a certified Pilates instructor.

The review after two weeks is useful as it shows the vocabulary you learn associated with each word and the words are categorised by the letter you learn in chronological order. I would have given 5 stars if the two extra conditions were met: the back of the book containing a complete vocabulary list of the words learned through the 6 weeks. having an optional chance to learn the words without the vowel markers since Hebrew is read without the vowels in the real world. Regardless of these two absences, it is still a good beginner book, although a little pricey at £18.99 (as of 2022).

Naturally, without a vocabulary in hebrew none of it makes sense - though you'll get a fair amount of examples in the book and be surprised by the sea of reeds which just makes you more curious as far as translations go - but it's truly going to be a great starting point before I move on to learning words and building a vocabulary as I can then associate them with both the written text and spoken word, and next thing you know, i'm having tea with a rabbi discussing the intricate grammatical details of some obscure text. ;-)
Worth the price in other words, and thankyou.
