Outstanding supplement to our homeschool latin!

Wonderful! We bought this to use as a fun supplement to our homeschool latin class for our 8 year old daughter. This is her 1st year of HS and she is NOT an advanced student, she's right on target for a 3rd grader. Having said that, this is sufficiently difficult, yet still fun. The stories are written in English first with detailed illustrations. Following the story is a Latin vocabulary list which is used to translate the exercises into English. This is tough stuff, but doable. It's a beautiful balance between very challenging and very interesting. Normally, we use Minimus (the first) but we love this for an extra unit that takes us out of our normal routine and allows us to "shake it up" a bit.

Also, it offers great activities like how to build a board game, lapbooking items, etc. Definitely a hit. I will certainly look for other books from this author/publisher/grouping to continue our studies in every subject.

This is a young child's text book. And, as far as those things go, it's quite thin. Make sure you haven't got a really marked up book, because you might want to enjoy some of the mystique of 'solving the questions'. I like it's fairly simplistic statements to be solved. Could be quite fun.

When I left my house the next day, there it was on my doorstep.
Could not possible have gotten it any faster unless I had gone to the store and picked it up in person.
I will order from this publisher again because it arrives so super fast!

The book itself has an excellent teaching method. Tells you the story in English, then gives you sentences describing the same story, but it is not a sentence by sentence translation, so you have to think about it.

Each little story comes with a mini glossary so that you can figure out the sentences.

It's simplistic, but is an enjoyable way to learn a little Latin.
And, you're learning a simplified version of the myths at the same time.

If you enjoy learning languages, you will enjoy this book.

It's an easy and fun way to begin.

If you want to learn Latin in depth, you will, of course, need to pursue books with more complexity.

This book is good for anyone who just wants to learn some Latin, but does not need to meet any scholastic standards.

I also recommend "Getting Started with Latin." It also is simplistic, but is designed on solid language teaching pedagogy, and addresses grammar in a more systematic way.

I love both of these books.

多分、日本でこの本の購入を検討される方は、ラテン語に興味を持った「大人」の方がほとんどだろうと推測いたします。ラテン語学習の副読本として、何か簡単なものはないかな、という興味ではないでしょうか。この本は、元々子ども向けの本です。だからラテン語の文法の説明はほとんどありませんし、あっても非常に単純なものです。教室での activities のために board game をつくってみよう、とか、紙に絵を描いてクレヨンでいろをぬってみよう、とか、「大人」には興味が持てないようなことが沢山あって、正直しらけます。ラテン語の単純な文章で、多くても１６行で一つのセクション（神話）が説明されています。英語自体も簡単です。ラテン語に対する敷居は低いのですが、その分達成感もあんまりありません。
