Kelly’s parents are murdered in their home, while Kelly is hidden away in the closet by her mother. Without any family members to take her in she will be shuffled from foster homes to eventually a Catholic orphanage until she turns eighteen. Poorly prepared for life on her own in New York City, she will spend a few days prostituting herself to have a place to sleep and food to eat.
Graham White is a well-to-do man with a peculiar taste for having a little girl to play Daddy to. Finding Kelly, learning she is barely eighteen, he will make her an offer that will have her living in his home under his care. They will enter a contractual agreement where she will submit to his control, be treated as a small girl, and accept punishments. Kelly suffers nightmares from memories of the death of her parents, and it is something Graham will help her with over their time together.
The plot is the journey of Kelly and Graham during her tenure as his little girl. He lays down the ground rules, what he expects, what she is obligated to do, and what consequences will happen when she does not obey or breaks the rules. The story also has issues with another couple who also have a little girl and the dynamics of their relationship. As well as the situation with Graham’s cook and when needed Nanny.
While this story starts out years down the road, it takes the reader back to life when Kelly’s parents were alive, to the trouble after their murder, to her life as a little girl to Graham. It also has the downside as she nears turning twenty and the dynamic start changing preparing her for life on her own in the real world.
The story has many punishments of various types including implements, how at times she is treated differently for various ages. There are times when Daddy allows her to enter his bed as an adult woman for their sexual encounters which are explicit.
There are two sides to each issue, Kelly is rescued from what would have been a bad life and given a loving home, proper care, schooling, and taught how to exist on her own. While Graham is honest that this is only for a few years, she has fallen in love with him and feels like he is rejecting her. Sometimes you have to clip the wings and push the little one out of the nest and make them take flight whether they want to or not.
While this is an erotic spanking romance, this is an emotional read. I found myself wanting to hug Kelly and tell her it’s going to be okay. She’s been given a second chance to not only relive her childhood but at life, too. She has trust issues, which is understandable, but Graham sees something inside Kelly that not even she can see: a beautiful soul.
There’s quite a bit of BDSM, spanking, power exchange, discipline and sexual acts. I found the spanking to be a little excessive, at times, but if that’s your thing, you’ll love this story.
I loved reading and discovering the age-play world Kathryn R. Blake created. Her character-driven plot moved at a good pace and I look forward to reading more from her.
Favorite Character/Quote: Kelly. I loved how much she grew from the jaded woman to the innocent “little” under the tutelage of Graham. After awhile it was evident she fully embraced her inner child, much to the thrill of her Daddy Dom.
My Rating: 4.5 stars
Learning to be Little is heavy on the age play. There is a twist, but you have to discover it for yourself as I won't spoil. The steamy scenes held the right amount of spice for my taste. Overall it was a very enjoyable read.
