Jaxon is the whole package. Not only does he surf and has a stellar body but he's in school to be a doctor, treats women with respect, is selfless, caring, and so sweet! He knows that he wants Trudy from the very beginning. He welcomes her into his life, family, and friends.
Trudy is a remarkable person. She has had to deal with so much in her life. Yet she is strong, independent, knows how to defend herself, smart, and driven. She has trust issues for obvious reasons but works to better herself.
The supporting secondary characters were excellent too. Jax's whole family were awesome! I really felt like they were actual people with depth and stories of their own.
This was an excellent book full of heartbreak, tragedy, love, friendship, and growing. It was a really great romance with some nice steamy scenes. I give this book a 5 out of 5 and can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Tru was a good character. She'd been through a lot, the loss of her baby was heartbreaking. I got teary at those parts and thought they were well-written (I loved the tattoo). Her attraction (insta-love) to Jax was a little "too much, too soon" for me. I would have liked to see her on her own a bit more before rushing into such an intense relationship so quickly.
I didn't really like reading Jax's POV, I wish it had just been from Tru's perspective. He claims to feel this instant, deep connection with Tru, but he mostly thinks about having sex with her or calling her "mine" (the caveman thing is not attractive to me). He has an evil ex named Ashton, who he claims is an awful person, but yet he had no problem with dating her and having sex with her for a significant length of time. I mean, if she was that awful, why would he date someone like that? It made no sense. He also has a BFF David, whose sole purpose in life is to act like a douche. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Why are he and Jax BFF's?
I did like Jax's sister Jazz, aside from her horrible taste in men, and it looks like she'll get her own book next.
There is a really weird part in the second half of the book where Jax makes a point of saying how much he likes guns. This seemed to come out of nowhere and it confused me until I got to the end of the book, where Jax turns into Rambo. That just seemed absurd! A 21 year old college student is not a trained police officer. That got a huge eye roll from me.
The book does sort of end on a cliffhanger, but it's a cliffhanger about Jazz, not Jax and Tru.
I just bought this book two days ago and it was amazing!
There is so much drama and a major turn pager. It is in alternate POV's of Trudy and Jax. Trudy is a lost soul just hanging on by a thread due to an abusive relationship causing a tragedy in her life. She then ups and leaves her past behind to start freshly new but then she runs into someone whose eyes bring back memories of the one person she misses everyday. She is determined to fight off her emotions but she is caught up in a sea of emotions.
Jaxon Coleman is brought up by a family with 4 foster siblings since his parents couldn't have anymore kids after him. He is attending for his med degree just like his father. However, dreams can change in life especially when he meets this lost soul and he will never be the same. Jax knows she has secrets and he is willing to be patient with her to to find out what they are.
You will meet several background characters like Jazz, David, Benji, Blaire, and Mason. I really enjoyed reading About the Author R.D. Cole to get a little background information from her. She implements some pieces of her life that are within Tru and Jax's story.
I truly fell in love with this story and cannot wait to read Jazz's because she so needs a HEA also!!
Her voice is so grief stricken and angry I squeeze her tighter, desperate to make it better. "I wanted him so bad and I still do. I was going to finally have someone.Read more ›
Jax is such a great character. He's so drawn to Tru and wants her so bad. He's just a great and wonderful guy that will do anything for anybody that he loves. Tru is a wonderful character as well. She's trying to learn to see that there is more to her and life than what she has been given. People are worth more than the money or the circumstances they have been given or earned.
The book is definitely worth reading.
