Smart Snacks Counting Cookies
A delicious way to learn! Children learn to recognize, count, and compare numbers with soft, plastic Counting Cookies. Cookies are numbered 0-10 on one side and the corresponding number of chocolate chips on the opposite side. Reach in and grab cookies one by one from the jar. Place them in numerical order in front of you. Count the number of chocolate chip cookies on each cookie. Then flip it over to check your answer. These cookies are a perfect way to identify one-to-one correspondence. Children can play a feel and count game by closing their eyes and grabbing one cookie. The cookies have raised chocolate chips so children can use their sense of touch to count how many chocolate chips are on the cookie. This game not only lets kids practice counting, they are also using their fingers individually and purposefully to solve a problem. This hands-on activity increases fine motor skills.
Add the cookie jar to your pretend play kitchen and math naturally becomes a part of play from placing them on your own tray, to divvying them out to your tea party guests, to determining how many each guest can have, children are exposed to and incorporate numbers and counting into the play.
The next time you make chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen, think about adding a little math to the mix!
- Early Math Skills
- Fine Motor Skills
- Eye-Hand Coordination
- Tactile Learning
Each cookie has the number symbol on one side and a representation of the number in raised chocolate chips on the other to help students gain an understanding of number and quantity relationships.

The cookies themselves are realistic and durable though they are slightly lighter and smaller than the other chocolate chip cookies this company makes (see picture - the "counting cookies" are on the left vs regular cookie on the right). The difference is small and wouldn't bother a kid. I like that they're sized perfectly to fit with our play kitchen (Ikea Duktig). The cookies fit on the Ikea baking sheet and in the oven and the cookie jar fits perfectly in the top shelf (see picture). The only thing I wish it had was one additional cookie so that you'd have a dozen, but I understand why they went with only 11 cookies (numbers 0-10).

That being said my 3-year-old daughter loves this toy. It keeps her attention for a long period of time. I like that it is both educational and fun. She knows her numbers and likes to count so this toy reinforces those principles. It also allows us to work on the concept of numbers being smaller or larger than other numbers. She immediately complained that the zero cookie was missing chocolate chips and I explained that's what zero means.
Apart from the numbers, she loves taking the cookies out of the jar and putting them back in, pretending to bake the cookies in her toy kitchen, pretending to eat the cookies, and pretending a cookie bandit stole the cookies. I love that such a simple product can inspire such imaginative play! Whether looking to teach your child numbers or simply to purchase toy food, I think this is a great choice.
She likes to put the cookies in and out of the container and we count the chocolate chips. They're fun and simple. I would definitely purchase again. I love learning toys.
The blue plastic is steogn enough to withstand a toddler throwing it. The cookies are made out of hollow plastic and have a small air hole, if it matters.
