I can't in good conscience recommend this product. It's nothing more than a box of plastic beakers. The kit doesn't come with a single ingredient needed to make any of the projects happen. If I ran to my local box store right now to pick up all that is needed, I could easily drop another $30 plus dollars for everything. Granted I bet you could pick up half the items at the dollar store and save a few bucks, but then your making a second stop. In addition, it's 2020. Who realistically has those batteries on hand anymore... So that's another $5.
Unfortunately, my kids haven't gotten to try this kit yet. I made the mistake (after quickly reading the back of the box), and agreed to let my kids do one of the projects after dinner last night. I saw the checklist and figured surly we had enough of the ingredients on hand to do at least one project in this kit. Nope. Not a single one. Even the basic slime recipe was altered to calls for a b vitamins!
So I definitely would not consider this item giftable. Especially this year. It requires far to many extras and make assumptions the recipient will have access to all of those ingredients. At the same time. It looks like we'll be dealing with Covid through the Xmas season and I'm not interested in making extra unnecessary trips to the store. Not to mention, we live up north. Our local stores having been out of stock on so many items and USPS is taking two plus weeks to deliver items. This kit couldn't have been released at a worst time, in my opinion.
Normally we love Learning Resources. They're a great company. I don't know what happened here.
