I have to say that I am disappointed in this toy set. We own two other Learning Resources Pretend and Play food sets (Healthy Lunch and Picnic) and the quality of this set is not the same. I had wavered back and forth between this set and the healthy breakfast foods set and settled on this one mainly because of the "cracking" egg. Upon receiving this set, I wish that I had ordered one of the two other breakfast sets that Learning Resources makes.
The food itself does seem durable, and my son has very much enjoyed playing with it all so far.

The issues I have are:
1. My biggest complaint is the size of the food. Most of the items are very small. The spatula is so small that its hard for me to play with it. For a point of reference, the pancakes are silver dollar size at best, and the strawberry is enormous compared to the rest of the food. The other play food I have from this brand is pretty true to size, so this surprised me.
2. The toaster oven is not working quite properly already- so I can imagine it wont be long before it breaks altogether.
3. The waffles are supposed to stick together- I'm assuming so that child can "cut" them apart, but the velcro pulled off of one immediately.
4. The muffin does not stick together- the top just lightly sits on the bottom piece which is already a source of frustration for my son- as soon as he picks it up, the top falls right off. The blueberries also don't fit properly in the muffin- you have to jam them in there just right, and then they always get stuck in the top part.
5. While the cracking egg is novel- Its hard for me to get the egg into the shell and close it properly. Be prepared to be the "egg closer" for your child if you buy this set.Read more ›

What a cute set! Please be prepared that the colors aren't as depicted- the toaster I received was red, the pan was grey. But that's not a big deal. The kids LOVE the toaster and the egg is a novel idea. A couple of issues-
The egg is really difficult to close and when we finally have it "drop" out (ie, after prying it out of the shell), it doesn't lay flat.
The velcro for the waffles immediately fell off one side- I guess they will be playing with half waffles until I go and buy some crazy glue!
The spatula is tiny and pretty unusable. We have another set with a spatula so we can use that.

That said, the kiddies love this set and have a lot of fun (the toaster, especially, is a big hit). I'm replacing all my cheap plastic food toys with more realistic toys in order to help with realism for the kddies as they pretend play and i'm loving learning resources right now. I really find their products quite wonderful and the kiddies LOVE them so i'm happy. Off to drink some fake orange juice, eat a blueberry muffin and perhaps, some egg and bacon? :oD

This set is not as high quality as the other Learning Resources play food. I have a few other sets that are much nicer. However, this set of food is really cute and my kids love playing with it! As other customers stated, the velcro pulls off of the food, like the waffles. The egg does not stay closed. The toaster is cheap and mine arrived being somewhat sticky, almost like a sticker had been pulled off of it. And everything is a bit miniature - the pancakes are the size of a silver dollar, and the waffles are tiny too. But again - my kids love it and it was a decent price. I don't regret the buy.

We purchased a little kitchen for our 21 month old daughter and needed some play food. I searched all over the internet to find pretend food. I saw that you could get over 100 pcs for approx $25, but they pieces didn't seem durable or very realistic. This set (combined with a few others) met my approval. She loves making the toast pop up and hiding the blueberries in the muffin. The only problem that I've found with this particular set is that the velcro holding the strawberries and waffles together comes off. I finally superglued the pieces on. When that wears off, I'll just throw the velcro away since it isn't really that important. Overall this was a great purchase and should last her a long time!

The pretend breakfast set is made of good quality. I find all the Leaning Resources products I have purchased are of good quality. The foods are flexible, durable, and soft. Great item to add to a play kitchen. Your kids will love it.

Gave this set to my daughter (3) for her birthday. She LOVES it. Even our older daughter (7) loves cracking the egg into the pan. The pan did come gray with a red handle. Looks much more realistic than the red one in the photo so I was pleased. As other reviewers have stated the velcro on the strawberry does come off. I am going to stick a little super glue on it and stick it back to the strawberry but that is the only issue I had with this set and it is very minor. The toaster works great and shoots the toast into the air out of the toaster which my three years old just gets such a kick out of. I love how durable and well made the set is. The pancakes, bacon, waffle, fried egg and the blueberries in the muffin are all made of a rubber like material instead of plastic! The orange juice is nice and the egg works great! We are very happy with the set. Even my husband commented on how nice it was! ...and THAT is saying something! :)
