Fruity, Sorting Fun

The Super Sorting Pie is a delicious way to provide hands-on experiences with early math concepts such as sorting, counting, number sense, patterning, and beginning addition and subtraction. Give children plenty of “free exploration time” to play with the pie, the fun fruity counters, and tweezers to ensure familiarity. The pie has a removable sorting tray that allows children to sort and count in many ways. Place the sorting cards into the bottom of the pan to provide visual cues that support success. Jumbo tweezers are included to reinforce fine motor skills needed for handwriting.

Sort, Match, Pick, and Count

Includes 60 counters: seven fruits (apples, bananas, grapes, oranges, grapefruits, apricots, and plums) in five different colors. Activity Guide provides fun ideas for engaging children in a variety of kindergarten readiness skills: sorting with the Activity Cards, matching, color/attribute identification, patterning, and counting. Make early addition and subtraction concrete by removing pieces of fruit from a group and asking your child how many are left. Extend the play by encouraging some "pretend" pie baking, sharing, and selling.

Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie
Build Little Hand Muscles

The key to developing fine motor skills is developing the thumb-forefinger pincer grasp. The Super Sorting Pie includes two jumbo tweezers, perfect for reinforcing this crucial, pre-writing skill. The tweezers feature depressions that guide little hands into position. Use the tweezers as part of the play! Great for visual-motor integration too.

Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie

This pie is adorable! It is a lot bigger than I expected, as is each of the fruit pieces. There are so many different uses for this pie that it is fun to see what my they come up with. There are tons of fruits (60 to be exact) that kids can match up and sort. There are two plastic tweezers included that are perfect for little kids hands. Once all done all the pieces fit nicely in the pie and you can close it up. It would be nice if the pie top snapped on to seal the pie shut as I am worried pieces will fall out, but at least it does cover it up. You can also use the pie top crust to put all the pieces in while sorting them.

The Super Sorting Pie is perfect for kids to not only have fun but learn a few things too. My boys are 3 and 5 and think its cool. I will say it is definitely not for kids younger than 3 if they are still putting stuff in their mouths, as the pieces are kind of small. Overall, though this product has so many great features that I don't see getting bored with it anytime soon!

This truly is one of the best purchases we have made yet! We plan to home school our little one and we pick up books and crafts and educational toys almost weekly. This learning toy is the best one yet! The pie shell is made of durable plastic and the fruit pieces are made of rubber. The tongs are made of strong plastic as well. It comes with 5 different fruits/colors. It definitely holds my 4 yr old boys attention quite well for at least 10 min of independent play. I can see this game promoting fine motor skills, sorting skills, counting skills, shape recognition, color recognition, math skills and independent play. It truly has endless learning possibilities! I wish they had one in vegetables too!

3 yr old DD received this as a gift at Christmas

Pros: Sturdy plastic parts (tested by my 3 yr old) have fallen on the floor, off the table, been dropped onto tile, etc... and held up well. A variety of ways to sort the fruit using the assorted paper disks in the bottom of the pie sections: colors, fruit type, number of items, shapes. Tweezers provide great fine motor practice for developing handwriting skills. Social skills practice by learning to take turns together. Can be used for dramatic play (every time we were done playing the "game" DD would rush the pie off to her play kitchen to "bake" it in her oven.) I've also borrowed some of the produce pieces to use in a garden themed sensory bin at home.

Cons: Many, many, many small parts; would be inappropriate for any child who is still tempted to put small colorful candy looking objects in their mouth.

HOLY CRAP these fruit pieces are all over my house!! If you have an active kinesthetic learner, this toy is a nightmare. My son sorts the pieces successfully for about 5 minutes...then discoveries the many other play possibilities with the little fruits including throwing them in the air and attempting to catch them, letting them roll down his race car track underneath my furniture, bouncing them off the wall. Great idea but just giving parents/caregivers a heads up that this a one big mess to come

This is a really nice toy. I bought it after seeing it at my daughter's preschool. When I purchased it the discs to place in the pie were missing even though it was packaged in a new box with shrink wrap around it. When I contacted the company to ask for them to mail me the missing discs, they said I had to ship the whole thing back and exchange it. That's too much of a hassle, so we just use the incomplete toy. Maybe one day I'll craft some homemade disks...

I use this toy for therapy, it is great for practicing fine motor skills and sorting. You can sort by color or type of fruit which makes it versatile. Some of the pieces could be a choking hazard for little ones if they like to put things in their mouthes so I just take those out and use the other pieces in this set for those kids. The tongs are not as easy as other games I have but that is perfect for hand strengthening. The peices are a really nice rubber and very easy to wipe down and clean.

I don't know if there is anything else that can be added to the other glowing reviews. This was definitely money well spent. My kids never get tired of this, it keeps them engaged and it's so simple. There are no bells and whistles and flashing lights or noises. Just simple math fun! Even I love to sit there and sort all the fruits. The product itself is sturdy and the fruits are not tiny at all; they're a really great size to fit in the fists of little hands. This is *definitely* a product you must own. We use ours for homeschool and fun.
