The stylus loop is in a lousy place. Granted, it's not nearly as bad as I have seen with several other cases .. the snap on ultra thin cases, for example, which for some reason all seem to put the stylus loop too close to the clasp, pushing the stylus out at an angle when they are snapped shut. The Snugg, on the other hand, puts the stylus loop on the end of the tablet, inline with the USB port. If you don't use a stylus, you can tuck it under the tablet for a clean look (it covers a small portion of the speaker opening but sound isn't affected).
But if you use a stylus (or at least like to have one in the event you need it) it's not the best location. For one, the way it's stitched, it flips up and covers the USB port. While this provides some protection, it can make it difficult to get the charging cable in straight. If your USB cable happens to have a thicker casing on the end, it can make it very difficult ... Unless you pull the loop down and out of the way, you can pinch the material between the port and the cable. And with thicker cables, you risk going in at an angle, which is very bad for the port. If you have a stylus in the loop, you're going to want to pull it out every time you need to charge. It's possible to pull the stylus down & out of the way to get the cable in, but it seriously strains the stitching on the loop. In addition, I prefer to use a split thumb keyboard, and with the stylus located where it is, it interferes with hand placement while typing in landscape mode.
All of this ultimately got me looking for another case, but again most of the other options were worse. I don't want a stylus loop on the back (can't lay flat). And a lot of stylus loops are right next to the volume and power buttons. I can handle covering the volume buttons (just install the "volume in notification" widget). But you don't want to cover the power button. It was then that I noticed the leather on the side of the tablet is concave (bows into the tablet) creating a channel, and because the back of the Nexus 7 is curved, there's a perfect gap between leather and tablet to clip a stylus (if it has a clip), and it rests on the leather, right in the groove. Turns out it's a PERFECT fit ! It does cover the volume rocker some, but again just install that notification widget. As for the loop, I tucked it under the tablet. Once I figured out how to store my stylus, the Snugg turned out to be the perfect case for me.
PS .. for those wondering, I ordered the Arcadia 2-piece Micro-Knit Retractable Stylus set available on Amazon here: [...] They work very well with the Nexus 7.
First, the build quality and the feel of the leather is incredible. It fits the Nexus snugly enough to hold it comfortably in place (even with a film screen cover) but not so tightly that it's difficult to remove. It's also sturdy and easy to grip. The best description I can think of is to compare the Snugg cover to that of an expensive, high quality leather-bound book. The hand feel is nearly identical. Also, the Nexus 7 functions are all within easy reach. Nothing, not even the camera, is covered (unlike what some competing covers seem to do). The magnetic latch combined with the power on/off features of the Nexus work well and work consistently with this cover. In fact, it works so well that I'm fairly convinced my mother has no idea how to manually turn the device on--or off. She doesn't need to!
Second, my mum has now had the device for just over two months and she uses it every day to check e-mail, check the weather, browse, read, and so forth (she's a heavy Nexus 7 user--I'll just say that much), and the Snugg case shows absolutely no signs of wear. The inner felt-textured padding is still just as soft as the day it was purchased, and the leather has held up incredibly well! I fully expect this cover to outlast the Nexus 7 it was designed to protect; tablets have a notoriously short functional life time.
It's worth noting that this cover is not designed to protect your tablet from drops or spills. It's designed to protect it from dust and casual wear, and to that end it slips easily into a bag or purse quite readily. There are other cases on the market that are advertised to protect your device from drops although I have to wonder how effective they are. As a device increases in mass, the case would have to protect against greater force (F = ma), and in my opinion it's better to purchase something (like the Snugg case) that offers superior grip or a strap to reduce the chances of dropping it in the first place!
I only have one very minor complaint about the Snugg case. The stylus loop at the bottom of the cover slightly obstructs the micro USB connector. The stock charge/data cable that comes with the Nexus 7 just barely fits against the stitching of the loop and fatter connectors likely won't fit at all. My solution was to remove the Nexus from the cover, tuck the loop inside, and reinsert the Nexus over the top with the loop tucked underneath. If you're having clearance problems with your connector and don't intend to use a stylus (most of you probably won't), just do what I did! This is especially true if you purchase a longer cable. Not all cables are created equal and some have thicker ends than others.
There are many competing cases and covers available for the Nexus 7, and some of the popular ones on Amazon don't have the appropriate cut outs for device functions (volume button/power button). If you'd rather skip the hassle of spending hours and hours researching a cover that will "just work," I'd highly recommend buying a Snugg. It makes the Nexus feel just like a book.
At first, I was looking at the cases which have the plastic tabs on the corners securing the device (these are more minimalistic), but I was concerned this style would place more pressure on the corners, possibly contributing to the trouble some persons have had in which the glass on their Nexus would shatter for no apparent reason? Not really sure if those type of cases would contribute, but I decided on this style just in case.
The Snugg case has a nice soft feel on the inside and the magnet feature which puts the tablet to sleep works very well. It will sometimes put the tablet to sleep if you're holding it right over the magnet, but not a problem if you are aware that holding it this way will activate the sleep feature. Small price to pay for such a convenient feature.
The leather is not premium, but still has a nice feel and does not add too much bulk. Also, I decided I did not want a screen protector after I received this case because I did feel the case was protective enough. The glass on the Nexus has a feel that is nice and smooth and I wanted to keep it that way. Also, I find the tablet much sturdier to hold when it's in the case (my hands are rather small).
It's not perfect, but all in all, a very nice case. I would have given 5 stars had it been about $5.00 cheaper.

My nexus 7 fits perfectly, the cutouts aligning well. When used in the folded landscape support mode it is very stable and when used in portrait mode is nice to hold. I haven't used the hand strap much, not finding it well placed or comfortable, but don't consider that a problem. The case, with tablet in is 22mm thick. I initially thought that I wanted a case that added the least thickness to my tablet, but I guess you can't have super-thinness and this level of protection. It is still possible to damage the corner of your tablet if it landed badly, but I think you would have to be very unlucky, or particularly brutal to manage it.
The case has no impact on either the WiFi signal or HSPA signal quality, making this truly a case that you almost never have to take your tablet out of.
The only down-side I have is the neat flap that covers the micro-USB port. Initially, the stiffness of the case makes it difficult plug in the charger cable. It does improve over time, but I'd recommend you be careful, as it would be easy to place unnecessary strain on the connector. It does improve over time, however.
Having tried other, cheaper cases, I have to say that this case is money well spent. It does the job brilliantly, looks great and just oozes quality. Highly recommended.
Update: I've had this for a couple of years now and I found out that it's definitely not leather. Maybe small bits of it are but I have yet to find them. How do I know? The black coating is starting to peel off and underneath is what looks like coated fabric. Be aware if you're looking for a high quality leather product.
Also, if you call something leather in the title, then you deliver a leather product, not something that peels off after a couple of years. Still two stars becasue apart from the peeling off it functions well by shape and fits.
It is interesting to note that Google in their instruction leaflet supplied with the Nexus 7 advise owners to avoid the Magnetic Detectors at airports and the like coming into contact with the tablet and presumably affecting the compass. I wrote to Google a few weeks ago on the subject of magnetic flaps on tablet cases but they have not replied. Too tricky I guess.
