This slip cover is beautifully made and is exactly what I wanted for carrying my Kindle. I can even fit my Kindle with the silicon cover on it into the slip cover. I would have given it 5 stars except for one thing. For some unknown reason Octo chose to print the instructions for using the slip cover directly on the leather on the back of the cover! First of all who needs instructions to use a slip cover? More importantly, WHY print them on the leather??? (No you can't rub or wash them off) I have kept the cover because, for me, it does what I purchased it for, protecting the Kindle without a lot of extra bulk. Still every time I pick it up I wonder why someone would choose to ruin a beautiful cover by printing the instructions on the leather.

First of all, as another reviewer mentioned, there are two illustrations stamped into the leather on the back side of the cover showing you how to slip the Kindle inside. I'm telling you, if you weren't able to figure that out on your own, you've got bigger problems than just trying to find a case for your Kindle.

Positives:

1) The leather on this case feels and smells exquisite - it was just what I was looking for. It's plush and aesthetically appealing.

2) The Kindle is very secure inside, and could probably withstand a drop from a two story building. Not that I plan on testing that.

Negatives:

1) The instruction diagrams on the back - just silly, and so unnecessary.

2) But here's the main problem for me - and I'm not taking off any stars for this because I should've realized this from the picture and the fact it's called a "slip cover" - but I was really looking for something that would make my reading of the Kindle more aesthetically pleasing, and more simulative of reading an actual book. This doesn't cut it, because when you want to read, you have to take it out and you are left with the plain plastic Kindle.

So, this cover is recommended for someone looking for an elegant and safe way to transport your Kindle, but not for someone who is interesting in having something plush to hold, or pleasing to the eye when actually reading.

I bought this hoping it would fit my Kindle 2 and it does perfectly. This was shipped pronto and does the job. Just note as the picture is hard to view and determine this.. it is a slip cover..it isnt made for viewing the Kindle with it on. For my needs of having a secure quality cover while it sits in my purse and being protected all at an incredibly affordable price it does the job. I bought this having read the reviews of the silly illustration on how to use the cover printed on the back. It is in light small print and although I wonder why it was made that way, doesnt bother me. Not for 9.95 including shipping and made of leather. I got this before I even received my Kindle so I took a chance but it fits like a glove. It wont come loose in there and is fully protected.

I really didn't like this as much as I expected that I would. I thought it would "fold back" upon itself and keep the Kindle inside while I read, but it is just a "slide-in" case.

***Update 2/25... Kindle 2 fits in here!!!! It slips in very nicely and does not fall out! Please note: the top right hand corner lines up right to the corner of the k2 (see the picture, the case is slightly notched) although the the k2 does not stick out of the notched leather right hand corner, if you were to drop it on that corner, the k2 along with the the case, would get hit the floor. Hard to explain... since the k2 lines perfectly up to the leather corner and doesn't stay completely inside the leather, it is not entirely protected from a fall. Not a big concern... this is a great case for the price! **** Update over.

I just received this product in the mail yesterday. I intended to use this for my backordered Kindle 1, but instead it will be (hopefully) used on my Kindle 2 that will be coming in on Feb. 26... I will update this review with more info when that I can actually use it on my K2.

Initial observations: It is a very nice quality very soft leather slip cover and is packaged beautifully. The printed illustrations on the bottom of the back of the cover (takes up about 3 inch wide, by 1 inch high) are silly (as stated in other reviews). They are not hideous, since it is just two little pictures(no words), but really completely unnecessary. Why would anyone need instructions on this?

I took the dimensions of the k2 and I believe this will be a perfect fit for the k2 since the top and bottom of the cover are made of elastic which holds the kindle in snuggly... so the extra 1/2 inch length of the K2 together with the fact that it is thinner, SHOULD result in a perfect fit. Again, I will update this review as soon as I have it!

This is a great price for a really good quality product.
