Cons: Flat screwdriver is nearly impossible to open. Knife comes covered in black, sooty, residue that gets all over your hands and is hard to wash off. The mechanisms/pivots for the blade and all the tools feel gritty and stiff.
In general it's a decent pocket knife, but Leatherman's quality control seems to have gone downhill over the years. A knife should never ship within these defects, however minor they may be. It would be understandable from some cheap knock-off brand, but I expect better from Leatherman.
I'm one of the very few women I know who actually carries a pocket knife. I don't keep my nails all manicured and long and polished. I like my nails to be short and strong so they don't get in the way of what I do, which is mostly photography and keyboarding at a computer. So, if you're a women with big nails who is considering a pocket knife, you should probably steer clear of this one. If nails are not your concern, then this is a great little tool to carry around.
No need to spend BIG money on a bench made, spiderco, and other name brands. They are excellent knives as well I also carry a Kershaw which I love but that serves a different purpose. But they can fall out of your pocket as well. Do you really want to lose a $100 plus knife But for an EDC simple knife you can't beat the price Again its a Leatherman
PS I lost my first crater recently (fell out of pocket somehow) I was upset but at this price I just ordered another one.
Overall I'm very happy and carry this every day and use it every day.
Update: I've had this knife for 8 months now and still carry it every day and use it regularly. The blade holds a good edge and the screwdrivers are still working great. Other knives are either slightly too big sit right in my pants pocket while I'm driving or too small to be very useful. Using it as a bottle opener will work in a pinch but takes some explaining if your buddy wants to use it as it's not really intuitive (how often is this possibly going to come up?)
Still my favorite pocket knife and I can't think of any way to make it better.
Having said that - this knife is awesome and it's so much better than carrying around a bulky multitool when 90% of the time I just need a blade or screwdrivers. Very sharp blade, solid construction, easy one hand use. Perfect EDC
One thing I'd like to see is a plastic-tipped belt clip. I wear this clip-out in my jeans little pocket (is it for a key, who knows?) and the upturn in the clip often scratches anything I bump into.
