This story had substance. Its stretched out more than the normal romance story of them meeting, falling for each other, kissing, having sex, then getting together. Believe me, their is convincing and begging. And rejecting. And more begging and convincing.
There is more in the story than just them liking each other. I would classify this as a novel with romantic undertones. The romance is in there, but not the MAIN focus.
This isn't insta-love. There is an attraction between them right at first, but they don’t get together right like that. In fact, there are so many obstacles and she fights it and rejects him.
***There is some sexual child abuse— I want to say nothing too descriptive or too horrific but I find ALL child abuse horrific***
Wren was sexually abused as a child, so that may be triggering for some readers, but I think it was handled well--not overly described, but enough to give the proper weight to how it affected her. And Lee is a good character as well. He isn't perfect, but he is perfect for Wren. He has his own growing to do, but their love is adorable & this story was a pleasure to read.
I won't give anything away because you should just read it.
