The story centers around Brianna Sullivan who has a special talent: she can see and communicate with ghosts. After an argument with her fiancé Cooper, Brianna and her loyal bulldog Leon are about to flee Lottawatah, Oklahoma, in their trusted motor home, but instead end up heading for a psychic convention with Sassy, Brianna's ex-future mother-in-law, and a mother and young daughter who have recently lost their husband/father. Confronted by a ghost in the most haunted hotel in America, the little group becomes involved in the search for a serial killer who has been abducting girls. As another girl is missing, Brianna has to use her skill to help the dead and the living as well as work out the future of her relationship with her detective fiancé.
Leaving Lottawatah was a lovely mix of paranormal mystery, romance and humor. It was fast paced and entertaining. Brilliant for dog lovers, as Leon the bulldog was a very adorable character.
The narration was okay. More reading than acting here. At times, the narrator's intonation reminded me of books being read aloud at school. Some bits, such as the child's voice and the singing, were done very well. As this was a new narrator for me, I would certainly try another of her narrations.
