Ms. Kay does a wonderful job of narration her many different character voices are delightful. You always know who is talking and just what they are feeling. She puts real emotion into each character giving you a very highly entertaining listen. I found at time I was chuckling right along with her and felt the pain from the past as these two broke the others heart. Her male voices are just as wonderful as her female one from her deep male tones to her sweet and sexy female’s ones. She really brought to life the story for me. Her performance was outstanding with her hitting each tone and emotion right on the money. The volume is even throughout with no repeat of words, no background noise just a smooth clear and clean audio that at times is fun make you smile. The narrator knows how to pull you in keeping you invested in the audio in this short sweet listen that is full of emotions, sorrow and love.
What a fun listen the author gives you an emotional listen that really pulls on your heartstrings in this small town where everyone knows everyone’s business. There is a little excitement and a few thrills as two people from the past fight their feelings only to find they are stronger than ever. The author gives no fillers every word is needed to fill in the blanks to give a highly entertaining read. She throws a few twist in that keeps you invested with a little danger. The plot is a delight with delightful characters you can relate to. I found myself chuckling as these two dances around each other. All I can say is that Clara has one wise uncle who let her live her life but is now trying to give it back to her.
Leaving Necessity by Margo Bond Collins will both be sold by itself and as part of the Come Love a Cowboy anthology. How can you go wrong with eight stand alone western novellas all in one book? I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have been reading Margo Bond Collins from the very start. She made the transition from paranormal to contemporary romance perfectly. I loved her two Hometown Heroes romances and was excited to read Leaving Necessity. I loved it.
Ten years ago Clara Graves left Necessity with a broken heart, vowing never to return. Her Uncle who had basically raised her, came to visit her often in New York but Clara never came back. Now, her Uncle is gone. Clara is forced to come back to town to bury her beloved Uncle and to take care of his affairs. She should be able to wrap things up in two or three days tops. Or that’s what she thought anyway.
Mitchell MacAllan or Mac as he prefers to be known as now, runs Aerio Oil and Gas Company for Clara’s Uncle. He is saddened by the death of his boss and friend. But he is also worried what will happen to the company. Aerio has basically saved Necessity, providing important jobs for it’s residents and keeping the town going. What if Clara wants to sell it? He can’t help but be nervous to see Clara. You see, it was because of him that she ran away ten years ago. He is the reason she had a broken heart.
“This time, he would convince her. He would find the right words, the right argument—a way to keep her from destroying everything he had built. Mac squared his shoulders and resettled his straw cowboy hat on his head. This time, everything would be different.”
Due to the terms of the will, Clara is forced to remain in Necessity for longer than planned to learn the business her Uncle owned before she can sell it. It doesn’t take long for old feelings to re-ignite between she and Mac. But her life is in New York now. Can she even consider giving that up, staying in Necessity?
“Even if he didn’t know how he would manage it, he was not going to let Clara Graves go so easy this time. Never again.”
This is a wonderful short feel good story and I loved it. Margo’s characters are always so easy to relate to and fall in love with.
