I just recently upgraded to an iPhone XR from an iPhone 6, so this is my first phone that is capable of wireless charging. It works great, even with the case. I can even lift the phone off of the charger a few millimeters before it stops charging.
It comes with a USB-C cable but DOES NOT come with the wall plug. I carefully read the reviews (thanks guys) and the description and figured out that I needed a QC 2.0/3.0 plug for fast charging to work with it. I'm currently using the plug from a Galaxy s8 (Pic provided) and it seems to be working. It definitely charges better than my stock cord. Not 100% sure on it though as my phone usually doesn't get low enough to really need it. I will definitely update my post if I find out that it's not actually fast charging.
All in all though this thing does exactly what I had hoped. I used to come home from work, sit at my desk, set my phone down next to my keyboard, and never plug it in. Not sure if it was me being too lazy to find the cord or just forgetful but this 100% solves the problem. I come home, set it down on the pad without having to think about it, and it charges.
