I have an I3 and my coworker has a Tesla. I used this adapter and tried to charge my car using his L2 charger, no dice. I kept getting red blinking lights from the charger port and the car would not charge. ????? Is this adaptor worthless????

I used this adapter with my $500 Tesla UMC and it apparently destroyed it. The Tesla UMC was working fine before, and after using this adapter it my Tesla charger no longer seems to be working.

I gave this adapter another chance and used it on the road to charge overnight at a hotel during a ~450 mile journey. Although the car began to charge briefly, I woke up to an empty battery- my car did not charge! It seems like this adapter faulted out the charger.

This adapter worked the first time I used it, but then didn't second and third time. After invoking the warranty, the company sent me a new one to try out. I hope that this one does not have the same issues as the original adapter they sent me.

Since my garage has a Tesla Wall Connector (100 amp circuit) for my Model S I didn't want to have to install an additional unit for Non-Tesla EVs. So when I learned about these adapters I was elated since I won't have to shell out more money to an electrician. When I received the adapter it had a nice appearance and looked like a quality product. I plugged the Wall Connector into the adapter then plugged the adapter into my Chevy Bolt and after about 10 seconds the car starts charging. Also I have a basement garage with a 240 Volt outlet (50 amp circuit) with a Gen 1 Tesla Mobile Connector plugged into that outlet and that works too but without the 10 second delay. Overall I would recommenced this product for anyone with a Chevy Bolt.

Does exactly what I needed it to do. There is a Tesla HPWC where I work and wanted an adapter so that I could charge at work and not have to carry my OE EVSE around in the car. This allows me to keep it at home and bring the adapter to work so I can charge my car. Works flawlessly on my 2016 Chevy Spark EV.

The adapter itself is hefty and has a nice, quality feel. Tesla charger end plugs in and fits snug, rests inside the J1772 port snug as well. High quality adapter, we'll see if it lasts. Worth the money if you travel and are near Tesla HPWCs.

UPDATE 01/29/2020 - Have also confirmed that this adapter works on my new car, 2017 Chevy Volt. Still loving this adapter.

Had it about three weeks now. Love this thing so far. I own a Chevy Volt and the house we rent came with an installed Tesla wall charger. Hooked it up to Tesla plug, plugged in to car, BAM. Power charging Level 2.

Pros:
- Durable construction. Has protective caps for both ends and the plastic and rubber used is strong. I’m not worried about bumping and damaging the adapter like I am with the 120V charger that came with the car.
- Easy to use. Literally plug and play.
- Small. Easily fits under a seat or in stowage bay for travel use.
- Utility. Paired with the right system is cuts charging time down dramatically and makes multiple EV trips possible for vehicles like mine with lower EV range.
- Convenience. Works with a wide range of inputs unlike a lot of other adapters.

Cons
- Upfront cost. Way cheaper than installing a whole unit, but still an extra cost against fuel savings that delays the break even point. The power company here offers a $200 rebate for buying an EV so it offsets the price of this unit.

Other notes: Shipping got its wires crossed and went to the wrong place somehow - pretty sure that was Amazon’s fault. Delayed arrival a couple days. Nothing on select or product, just expectation management in the event yours goes to the wrong state too. Still have an EV adapter that arrived at my door in less than a week... so really happy and nothing to complain about!

There are communication wires used with tesal that are not connected properly with this adapter. To test this, i plugged it into the tesla cord, then plugged the tesla adapter back to the standard tesla plug but it would not charge the tesla car. This means that my expensive tesla charger does not know how much power the car is needing, so you can't have two tesla chargers managed to the maximum current of the breaker.

The product works as described. So far I have been using it for my Leaf for the last couple months. It seems to have been made from high quality materials and looks great. The Tesla side of the connector is a little loose between the connector and cable, but no issues so far. Plugs and wiring are sturdy and should hopefully last a long time. Plugging the Tesla charger into the cord requires that you hold down the locking tab, which could be smoother if it the cord could simply slide into place and lock without additional intervention. Unplugging also requires a little extra force to remove. It is cheaper to use the adapter than having a separate high power charger and convenience wise it's not too bad. Also offers additional options for destination charging.

Tried this a 2 different Tesla owners houses, at 1 it worked but not on the other.

Then went to a hotel that had a destination Teslacharger and red fault showed up on Kona EV
& on Bmw i3 that I tried.

This is unfortunate as that was the purpose for buying this.

If your getting it to travel to a friend that has a Tesla charger at their house, there is a50/50 chance
That it works, after my experience. Try it and if it doesn’t then return it as I did.
The unit is built well and looks strong.
They did offer to exchange it as I may have had a bad unit so hats off to the seller.

I may try them later in case I had one that was made at the end of a shift on Friday night.

I bought this to use with my 2012 Mitsubishi I-miev. I tried several Tesla HPWCs and could not get it to work (red fault light). After reading on the internet, I opened up an HPWC and moved DIP switch 2 from position 2 (Tesla) to position 1 (J1772). It worked after that with no issues. Unfortunately, I don’t want to have to open up every Tesla HPWC that I encounter, so I asked for my money back. A refund was granted and I bought a TeslaTap instead that works as advertised.

I have used this gadget about six times so far at different commercial Tesla destination charging stations (not the home wall charge station at home; apparently with the Tesla home charge station, the amperage has to be adjusted) to charge the EV 2020 GM Bolt and all worked. It even showed a slightly higher charge rate than Level 2 J1772 charger. One time I accidentally plugged it into a Tesla Super Charger (wasn't thinking) and the Bolt displayed an error in connection.

The Lectron Adapter physically connected with the Tesla charging cable. The R3 showed green.
The J1772 connector plugged in to my Volvo T8, the light was initially green then turned red as did the Tesla R3 charging unit. Did a reset and tried again several times from completely power-off and reset. No joy.
It is very simple. Either it works or is doesn't.
Sadly, I had to return the adapter.

Following the instructions from the supplier, this charger didn't work at all with the Tesla wall charger at my work. As I wanted to ensure I was getting "free" work electricity, I spent some time troubleshooting.

These steps got it working for me.. at least for an ioniq PHEV on a regular Tesla wall charger

1) plug in the charger, hook it up to the car
2) lock the car
3) walk away (or wait) 5 minutes or so
4) switch the car to accessory (hit the on button once without your foot on the brake)
4a) wait for two clicks i) the car makes click ii) the car makes another click and the red charging warning light on the dash turns off
5) turn the vehicle on and the Tesla charger should engage after a second or two

This worked for me on one charger.. I'm not sure if it will work for others. The issue seems to be getting the car to tell the wall charger to engage.

3 stars because it didn't work properly and it's annoying because of all the steps/time. Upgraded to 4 stars because the customer service and feedback from the seller was very good
