When I opened the bag for the first time it lofted up nicely. I inspected it everywhere for any rips or flaws, and it seems perfect. Everything seems to be sewn well, and the zipper works smoothly, with minimal snagging. There is a nice full length zipper baffle and extra material sewn behind the bottom of the zipper to keep out drafts. I like that the zipper runs nearly the entire length of this bag, as it makes it much simpler to get in and out of. As other reviewers have mentioned, this bag is SNUG! You don't get into it, you WEAR it! I am about 5' 5" and a bit chesty; I can zip the bag up completely, but its snug. If you turn over in the night, this bag is going to roll with you! It is true that the lining of the bag is not sewn to the side, but that didn't seem to bother me.
The bag laundered very nicely. As per manufacturer's instructions, I washed the bag in a front load machine, in warm water, with a non-staining detergent; no high spin rates, and hung it to dry. I used the delicate cycle on our machine, and gave it an extra rinse just as I have done with other sleeping bags we have owned. Unlike cheaply made bags, none of the fill clumped or fell out of place, nothing ripped or pulled apart, and it dried quickly on the line. It pleased me to know that this bag didn't come out of the machine soppy, and that it dried so fast...nice features to have in case of wet conditions while camping.
This bag is plenty warm, in fact, I started feeling the heat in mere minutes and soon found myself zipping it down some to free my arms and regulate the temperature. I had plenty of foot room, and enough hood to stuff my make-shift pillow, so it works for me. I do have a +10 degree bag liner in my gear, but I doubt I'll ever need it. Honestly, if the weather is going to be near freezing, I'll be camping in our travel trailer instead! But since I have no designs on thru-hiking the AT, or circumnavigating Lake Superior by kayak, then this bag is a realistic choice.
Other notes: The manufacturer had a packed weight of 24 ounces listed for this bag, but on my scale the entire thing is very close to 32 ounces. It compresses down to about 7" x 10". I'd recommend it for women or kids no more than about 5' 6", and under 200 lbs.
My other sleeping bag is a REI 19 bag and I had it out overnight when it got down to 21F and sleeping in just a long sleeve shirt and boxers I was just about as cold. Yeah, I could've worn more clothes but I was testing it. So rating to comfort wise it seems this sleeping bag is giving a much lower temperature than what it can handle.
I still like it though for 65F and up and using a warming liner when it's any cooler. The zipper works well, it's very light, and it's soft. Mine even came with a compression sack and although it's a heavy sack it works well. I really have absolutely no complaints about this bag except for that temperature rating.
Overall I did like this bag a lot because of it's weight and pack size and the zipper is not a deal breaker at all.
Update: A year and a few outings later, I can report the bag is comfortable and warm. It's held up well to travel. Still a 5-star product.
