It's scary how much I love hoisin sauce. My local grocer doesn't carry this brand, and their brand is not nearly as good. I use this on everything from chicken, to noodles, to home-made beef jerky. I find the below to be a great marinade:

1/2 cup hoisin
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tsp garlic
1 tbs five spice
1 tbs onion powder

Mix thoroughly and marinade 6-8 hours. works great on pretty much anything.

I use this stuff like it was ketchup, honestly. It goes with everything. Hoisin is awesome on chinese food, thai food, vietnamese food, its good with hamburgers, fries, and even with steak instead of steak sauce. Hoisin is sweet, and salty and has this certain kick to it that makes it unique amoung condiments. The first time i ever saw it used was when i was watching PBS Yan Can Cook, and he busted out the Lee Kum Kee bottle and i was mesmerized with its rich brown color, and Yan Can do no wrong with me!!!!

I usually buy tons of stuff here on Amazon, but when I started looking for Hoisin I just trodded through the grocery stores. All they had was some no name brand in a jar. I dont know about you but when I am eating chinese or vietnamese food I am for the most part using chop sticks and just want to hose something on it and pop it in my mouth. The only kind I ever saw in restaurants was this kind with the squirty bottle and got used to it. The jar just looked stupid, then you would need a spoon, then a bowl, then cleanup ahhhh.
Had a brain flash and said "look on Amazon and there it was. Same brand as the good food places I frequent.
Life is now complete.

This is from the company's website FAQ: "Our Hoisin Sauce does not contain peanuts or milk, but it does contain wheat flour, which is an allergenic substance to some people. For your safety, please consult your dietitian before consumption.

Our Plum Sauce does not contain any dairy, eggs, peanuts, tomatoes, honey, mustard, rye or potato (starch), but it does contain wheat and soy.

Most of our products do not contain milk, eggs, nuts or peanuts. We clearly list the top nine major allergens on the ingredient list if they are included in the product. The nine major allergens are soy, wheat or other gluten-containing grains, peanuts, eggs, milk (dairy), tree nuts, shellfish and crustaceans, fish, and sesame. For your own safety, please check the ingredient list on the label before purchasing a product.

Our manufacturing facilities handle peanuts and their derivatives. We have implemented nut handling policies and procedures to ensure that peanuts and sesame are kept in a segregated storage area, with its own tools and containers. We schedule the production of these peanut and sesame products at the end of each production week and follow careful cleaning procedures. Therefore, cross contamination is minimized. In addition, we analyze the peanut residue in the next production batch to ensure that no peanuts are carried over to other products."

Add this to your stir fry dish for a quick WOW taste!
I fell in love with this stuff at one of my favorite restaurants. The effect is just as good at home, and it's much easier to order on Amazon than it is to find it in the grocery.

It has a great taste and is vegetarian too! Because I'm not a meat eater, finding good tasting items that pack flavor is difficult to do. This especially holds true for Chinese Food. Often my Chinese food take out, has offered to put Oyster Sauce in my dishes, and I have had to say no, please don't. But now I can make home dishes that actually taste like they came out of the Take Out place!!! I just sautee up my veggies and add LoMein noodles with this lovely Hoisin sauce, and I'm loving the dish! When it comes in at a fraction of the cost of take out, well, I'm loving that even more!

One 2 tablespoons serving spoon of this sauces has 44% of daily intake of sodium. I am horrified. Tried searching Amazon for low sodium Hoisin Sauce found none. But I did find a very simple recipe to make your own Hoisin Sauce using wholesome ingredients in small batches. Homemade Hoisin Sauce in Food.com by Alskann
