The cost was very low, and it does the job it was designed to do, so basically I'm glad I got it. Very good item for a hobbyist trying to keep costs down.

I used it together with an IDE-drive-to-SATA-port converter that I bought separately, so I was able to access an old 2.5" IDE laptop drive and hook it to a SATA port on my computer. I used the Syba SD-ADA50016 IDE/SATA Converter that I bought from another vendor here on Amazon. Using this combination setup I was able to easily transfer files back and forth between the computer and the drive.

The overall appearance of this device is ugly, the solder is old gray looking, not silver shiny like you normally see, and the white connector has a very discolored look to it. All the soldering seems to have been done by hand, and it was done neatly. But the power connector pins look like they have cold solder joints. If the device stops working, then I'll re-solder those pins.

It's not clear which way the 44-pin connector should go onto the 2.5" drive, since the key pin is not blocked. You could easily put it on the wrong way, and I don't know what would would happen if you did that. In my case I studied the connector carefully and noticed that one of the pins is not connected to anything, so I marked that pin and matched it up with the blank pin on the drive. That worked, so fortunately I did not have to find out what would happen if it was hooked up backwards.

The main reason I got this device was that I had trouble getting my laptop drives to work properly with USB to IDE converters that supply power from the USB cable to the 2.5" drive. This device requires a separate power source to feed power to the 44 pin 2.5" drive connecter.

After figuring out that the 2.5 inch hard drive had a Dell adapter that needed to be removed, I got this adapter fitted to the hard drive. Sadly I can't read any data on the drive. The PC recognizes it as the Fujitsu 40 GB drive that it is, but that is all it will do. I can't seem to access the drive, so I'm assuming it is bad.

Update: I finally was able to format the drive with the adapter. It worked great.

Another review, for the Leegoal 2.5" to 3.5" Laptop IDE Hard Disk HDD Adapter sold by EPICDEALZ

I had a need to put a 2.5 IDE drive into a computer that used a 3.5 in IDE drive. This device was the easiest solution to that problem.

Packing... They are sent wrapped in a bubble wrap sheet, shipped in a shipping box.

Instructions.... This device is shipped with NO instructions however it is rather intuitive.

Condition.... They arrived in pretty good condition. One had the pins in a awkward angle inside the power plug and they had to be bent back in alignment so the power plug could be attached. No other problem found.

There are no power supplies as the power is taken from the power plug from the 3.5 in drive source.
This is a printed circuit with attachements for the connection to the 3.5 in hard drive connectors for data and power AND connector for the 2.5 in hard drive. Do understand this works from the 3.5 in cables to the 2.5 inch hard drive, not the reverse.

The printed circuit board is basic and simple and should be mounted where there is no bending or stress on the connectors as any force may do damage to the adaptor.

Connections are easy and fast. As soon as you are connected on both ends you should be ready to go, there is nothing else to do other than assembly. DO INSPECT ALL THE PINS BEFORE ASSEMBLY as you may receive on with misaligned pins. Simply bending them back in alignment should be all you need to do.
If you are making a connection that may be more or less PERMANENT, this should do the job, however, since the adapter is inexpensive and noting that the device is simply a printed circuit, I would recommend getting an extra one.

Had a 3.5" IDE HDD going bad, so needed to clone it to a 2.5" of the same capacity to get me out of a jam, it done the job & was bootable afterwards. No loss of performance, actually better, probably because the 3.5" original HDD on a Dell Dimension 2400 was on it's last legs.

Ran it that way for a year or so, the device began to run warmer than normal (possibly due to cold/improper soldering, as it came apart upon removal). By then, I had a used 3.5" drive, so I installed a recent backup to it.

Your luck may vary, as I've had 2 of these from different vendors, this was the longest lasting of them.

Keep in mind that this should be used as a temporary or emergency product, it can also be used to test if the motherboard is good, as long as a 2.5" IDE HDD is available. This device works in either direction.

My HP died after years of use and wanted to get some old photos off of the hard drive. Didn't know if the HD was damaged so wasn't about to spend a lot for data recovery. This little adapter did the job perfectly. I plugged it into an external 3.5" HD case, plugged in the 2.5" HD and it booted up with no issues. Thanks!
