Left for Dead: A True Story By Richard Quinn Paperback – January 1, 1995

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 242 ratings

Left for dead by his doctors after a 1978 heart attack and failed bypass surgery, Dick Quinn discovered an herb that saved his life. Left for Dead tells his remarkable story and shows how he controls blood pressure and cholesterol, cleans arteries, prevents heart attack and enjoys a wonderful quality of life without drugs or special diets. Heart Attack - "An overwhelming presence took charge of my spirit, my life force, my soul. I was floating in the air, watching my body down below...That was the day I died for the first time."Open Heart Surgery - "Truly a remarkable performance by remarkably skilled people working together like a precision drill team, in an extraordinarily equipped operating theatre at a cost of many dollars and much pain. Too bad it doesn't work."Cholesterol - "I have lower blood pressure and cholesterol, prevented heart attack, felt terrific and enjoyed a wonderful quality of life for years because of a common kitchen spice."

Cayenne Pepper. It sounds weird when you read it, but when you decide to give it a try, it actually Does help -alot. The first thing you'll notice is that your hands and feet feel Warmer than they have felt in years. It Does improve circulation-no doubt about it. And, in turn, you Will notice much more energy-and Fast. Can it help keep your arteries clear? Everyone is different-I can't speak for anyone else, of course, but it Did help Me. Give it a try-what do you have to lose? It only costs a couple of dollars a bottle in the stores. If it has no effect? Then talk to your doctor about medications and surgery. You'll know if it does quick enough-no need to wait for a heart attack. One caution, though-do Not forget to Eat when you take it. If you don't, you'll get a bellyache burn like you wouldn't believe! If you Do eat? Then you'll be just fine. Read the book. Make up your own opinions and judge for yourself. There's no reason Not to. Ignore your doctor and rely solely on red pepper? Don't be ridiculous. But look into it. It just might surprise you big time. I know that I thought it sounded absurd, and I would imagine that most others who read about it will also think likewise. But when you're like the author Dick Quinn and myself, with no other options to do, when you are, as the title says, abandoned by your trusted doctor and "Left for Dead", then why not? It just might Help.

I was lunching with a friend who told me she was in the process of reading a true story, 'Left For Dead", by journalist Dick Quinn.
She said that when she had finished reading the book she would lend it to me. As I already had several books on the health benefits
of cayenne pepper I was only mildly interested when she produced the book from her cavernous bag. Under the circumstances I was only able to read a small section of the book but it was enough for me to come to the conclusion that I did not want to wait for her to finish reading her copy and I ordered my own copy that very day. Having now read the book in it's entirety I rather vigorously recommend the book to friends and family alike.
Dick Quinn takes the reader with him on his journey from ill health to wellness. His writing has such an easy conversational tone
it is almost as if he is talking to you. There is however an underlying eagerness within the words, Quinn has made a discovery, an invaluable one and he wants as many people as possible to share in it. I enjoyed the book immensely, I was appreciative of the information it contained and Quinn's breezy style of writing made the book a delightful read.

I have to admit I'm still reading this book because I've had some interruptions in my schedule, however I'm half way through and finding the information very valuable. The author tells his story about how Cayenne pepper literally saved his life and continues to this day. He also includes lots of information about other herbs and their uses, so it's well worth checking out.
I prefer to compare different sources of information before I make a judgement about anything and I certainly got it reading this and other books on the subject. I find that each individual can give a different perspective so it helps to match it up with your own point of view about the particular product. And when it comes to something as serious as a heart attack, it's best not to take the information lightly and use discretion always.
Over all, I am pleased with the book and will keep it handy for when I need to refer to the information.

Just recently I bought this book and another (for a friend that's sick) that is titled "10 Essential Herbs" by Lulita Thomas. The year of 1988 when I myself was 38 & suffering breathing problems, I by chance found nutritional teaching from a radio program that had Mr. Dick Quinn on the radio program & started down the road to a healthier me. From the information from these two books, as well as others that I read & tried. My introduction to mild Cayenne pepper as a start & then to "Much hotter" & am now at my present & daily level of 90,000 heat unit-Indian cayenne pepper, with an occasional leap from 200,000--600,000 heat units.......it gets my blood moving every morning & feel sluggish if i don't eat the pepper on & in my Tuna-fish /onion & lettuce salad !!! Great Book, Great information, thanks Amazon for selling these items ! Hugs, Bethany.

reading this book has changed my health and life for the better, I believe Dick is right, I believe the doctors are poisoning people with drugs that have a bunch of fillers in them that no one under stands the side affects, and you don't see an ingredient list on a pill bottle like the food labels have, this book gives you nature herbs which are food that can actually heal you and not something that keeps you alive but sick enough to keep you going back to the doctor $$$$$$

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartening information!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 5, 2010
This book is easy to read and packed full of alternative and complimentary remedies for many illnesses, especially heart disease.

The author Richard Quinn describes his own journey from very sick (almost dead in fact) from heart disease, to very well indeed by including ordinary Cayenne Pepper in his diet.

At times it is a bit repetitive, but you can't fail to be inspired by the author's enthusiasm for his subject.
