I'm looking forward to the next two books in this series and everything else that this author has to offer.
I look forward to reading more books in this new series:)
I will admit, that it took me a minute to warm up to Isaak. He had a LOT going on, and I wasn't feeling all his extra stuff or him. But I kept on reading, because, well, this is a Love Belvin novel, and she knows what she's doing. I think I first stared falling in love with him, when we hear him rap in class - a rap that clearly ( at least to me) was about Kennedi. And when he introduces her to Martin and says she's his best friend, i fell a little bit more.
I liked Kennedi from the very start. Such a sweetheart, which we see when she helps Kelly and Shameeka's trifling behinds, instead of giving them her a** to kiss (which they both deserve). And the fact that she keeps helping, even though she feels like her bestie has moved on and forgotten her. She's the real MVP, cause I would never...
I love that these two start out as friends. They bond so quickly, and when Isaak bounces, I was as disappointed and disturbed as Kennedi was. When they reconnect, Isaak is a different person, with a totally different life. It was a little bit jarring, and I wasn't sure how I felt about him. Especially when we learn about the kids and what their lives are like.
I couldn't stand Tracee. She's so rude. I think know how she and Isaak connected, and I'm looking forward to finding out what the deal is with these two. Shameeka and Kelly are also the hottest of messes. Seriously hope they get what's coming to them. Love, love, love the kids and Kennedi's relationship with them. Love kennedi's parents, too.
The CCJ references were such a great touch! As were the references to people, places and things from other Love Belvin novels. It gives a sense of connection to all of her works.
Ok, time to move on to Book 2. This book is a must-read!
