By: Brooke Williams
5 out of 5 stars
The story The Leftover by Brooke Williams is a contemporary romance book. This is a story about two people who meet because of a local reality show. One is a contestant, the other is the medic that is there to watch out for everyone’s health and respond to any medical emergencies. Megan and Cane never expected how easy it is for them to talk to one another. In the midst of a game that will test the limits of the contestants will these two find themselves falling for one another? This author has written a story that is very detailed oriented in regards to the reality show and when reading I found myself getting caught up in all the challenges that the participants had to go through as well as all the drama that came with it. It is also the story of Megan and Cane. Megan’s character is the one that shows the most growth in this book. She goes from a shy, soft-spoken girl to someone that exhibits confidence in herself. She is making friends and learning how to keep herself in the game. She is a character that I could really identify with. Cane is trying to get past the heartbreak of rejection. He finds that he is able to easily talk to Megan and takes the time to encourage her. They quickly become friends. Will he find that his feelings for Megan go far beyond friendship? There are many other secondary characters that make up the contestants in the reality show that are entertaining to read about. Megan soon finds the ones that she can call friends and the ones that she needs to watch out for. This is a very entertaining book that had me turning pages to not only find out if Megan and Cane get a happy ending but to see who would be the winner of “The Leftover.” This is the first book I have read by the author and enjoyed so much that I can’t wait to read what she writes next.
THE LEFTOVER is the first book I’ve read by Brooke Williams and I was very pleased with it!
THE LEFTOVER is a romantic comedy and is written with an incredible wit! The writing is just right to keep the light moments light, and the not so light moments are mostly hilarious!
The multitude of characters are a wonderful mix. They are all believable, and I think I’ve met most of them on my life’s journey! They are very diverse and represent the best, the vainest, the most vapid, the most loyal, and a true egotist, an accurate sampling of humanity!
Megan struggles with her own self-image and her lack of confidence in herself is a challenge too many young women face! Brooke wrote her brilliantly and I couldn’t help but love her as she faced each challenge!
I found the love story to be a secondary theme and Cane to be the perfect imperfect man for it! He struck me as an unusual fellow, allowing his insecurities and imperfections to be seen. Cane had a depth to his character that endeared him to me in the long run!
Brooke Williams has a bestseller in THE LEFTOVER in my opinion and you should grab your copy right away!
I give THE LEFTOVER by Brooke Williams five steaming hot Room With Books cups of coffee!

I have a suggestion for another story. Mike, the producer, was in all the books I've read read so far. What's his story? Why is he such a jerk? Maybe he could be the next leftover or dandelion? Then he'd learn how hard it is in front of the cameras.
So far, I love all Ms. Williams books!
