Up till now, ‘Ghosting’ meant blocking someone on Twitter. Up till now, anything magical only happened on Netflix.
But now? Nuh-uh…Ghosts are actually real?
“Absolutely!” says the eccentric old bat living in a mansion in the middle of nowhere.
She’s older than dirt, rich as Bezos... and my grandmother.
My grandmother? What? Mom & Dad told me she died years before I was born! Here’s what the hell happened to my life.
FML to be exact… A few days ago Mom & Dad lost their minds about me getting kicked out of school (again).
But THIS time they cut me off. The cute little one bedroom in NYC—gone. The gold plated Amex credit card? Buh-bye.
“You’re 22, Kiera and it’s high time you learned a few things about your life!” Mom said, just before BANISHING me to some po-dunk city up north to ‘look after your grandmother’.I didn’t even know the ancient biddy existed until then. WTF is up with that?
And what’s up with her house? As soon as I show up, crazy things start. Some tricky housekeeper who I’ve never seen, keeps tidying my room. I hate other people touching my stuff!
Then there’s some sneaky little boy screwing with my Nikon camera. WTF? Why does his selfies look so weird? When I see them, he’s all blurry and faded, but everything else is sharp and normal looking. It’s enough to give you the creeps.
On top of all that, every night there’s moaning and groaning (and NOT the good kind) from the hallway, and when I go to check…there’s nothing there.
When my GM (no way...no freaking way—I’m calling my Grand Mother, ‘Nana’) tells me that I have to take over the family business...then INFORMS me of just what the family business is... Oh boy.Ghosts are real, okay? And some of them get stuck here, okay? And now it’s my job to get them over to the other side?
Really? Oh...cuz if I don’t...you know...end of the world stuff will happen. Like our planet falling into the sun kind of things. Things that make a nuclear war look like a schoolyard fight. For real.
Ghosts are real, okay?
Guess what? So are demons.
And a whole bunch of other crap I’m just trying to get my head around.
Oh boy...I really should have stayed in school.
Legacy is the first installment of the complete series ‘The Mystical Veil’ a page turning series about a selfish trust fund brat who has to grow up and grow a heart. Or else.
The world doesn’t revolve around Keira, she just has to save it. There’s a lot more to the world that what you see on TV. There’s ghosts. And mages. And demons. And a lot more in her heart than the latest fashion fad.

AWESOME
“Great book. Full of excitement and supernatural.”

I’M SO HOOKED“
Wasn't sure I was going to like this book when I first started reading it - Keira's attitude toward everything just wasn't for me but she grows up and matures quickly and I grew to love her. She's very spunky and very powerful and the love she had for her GM at the end was very sweet. Definitely will be reading the rest of this series!! Big thumbs up!”
★★★★★
AN ENJOYABLE READ
“The book is well written, and easy to follow. I loved the big twist! This is the first time in a long time that a twist really took me by surprise. She whet my appetite for more. I hope the next book is as good.”

A multiple bestselling author, Michelle Dorey has written more than a dozen spine-chilling novels featuring ghosts, haunted houses and the supernatural.
A voracious reader of the masters like Stephen King and Dean Koontz, her debut novel was inspired by attending a Ghost Walk in the enigmatic city of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Crawley House was inspired by a true tale of a family’s nightmare, living in a Victorian era home.
“Expect the supernatural when the bedrock of a city is limestone. When this ancient rock is surrounded on three sides by water as my home town is… well, you have the perfect setting for eerie events—which of course is my cup of tea.”
Wife and mother, Michelle is also a dog lover, human to Suki and Ruby. She loves them dearly, but for the last eight years on walks, they absolutely refuse to enter grounds of a beautiful historic cemetery near her home.
Michelle has written two complete series, The Hauntings Of Kingston and The Haunted Ones set in upper New York State.
She also publishes novels in the paranormal urban fantasy genre. The Mystical Veil follows an ordinary but slightly sarcastic young woman as she follows the path which was pre-ordained for her at birth. Keira reluctantly accepts her eccentric grandmother's guidance as her psychic powers manifest.
Another series written in 2020, Celtic Knot, is a combination of urban fantasy with Irish mythology. Bernadette accidentally awakens an ancient Celtic god when she visits Ireland. When he insists that he owes her a blood debt and accompanies her back to the Big Apple it's a roller coaster ride of crazy twists and turns. It doesn't help that, his best friend, a Fae Prince and a dog of war tag along.

When I first started writing novels, my focal point was creating interesting characters experiencing paranormal events such as ghosts and demons. It was fun setting up the scenes in haunted houses and often gave me a chill even as I wrote it! I have two series of eerie novels written under my first pen name -- Michelle Dorey.
I created a hybrid series, the Mystical Veil featuring a young woman reluctantly dragged into a world of spirits and demons. It is one of my favorite creations as it involved wonderful relationships. First, Keira meeting her grandmother and finding in the eccentric old lady a kindred spirit. Her friendship with Gwen evolved as they fought side by side against dark forces in the netherworld. And who couldn't love the push-pull love relationship Keira develops with Gwen's Ass-Hat brother?
A trip to Ireland with my sister inspired the Celtic Knot series. It was magical and quirky! Both the trip and the series of books! Love the Ring of Kerry in southern Ireland!
My urban fantasy, women's paranormal fiction novels are written under Shelley Dorey. Shelley was my nickname growing up and reflects a fun, lighter era, much like the tales written under this pen name.
I find it refreshing to bounce between two genres that compliment each other but are distinctly different. The new series, The Witching Well books practically wrote themselves, often finding me giggling at the women's antics. When the characters take on a life of their own and start telling the story is the ABSOLUTE BEST thing that a writer experiences! It doesn't happen all the time but when it does...WOW! I love it.
I hope you enjoy the novels written under my Shelley Dorey pen name!

As a Kingston local i particularly enjoyed seeing our city painted in such intricate detail. Michelle paints such a vivid picture that it really sets the scene for the wider story. She brings in the rich history of the area and layers it in with an expert touch.
The story poses a lot of deeper questions, which pulled me through the story. This isn't your usual ghost story, there is a lot going on behind the scenes that is gradually revealed. I really enjoyed this wider mystery and can't wait to see where it goes in the next book.
The characters are also great. Keira shows a very natural progression throughout the story as she slowly gets drawn in to the paranormal world. However, for me, the star of the show is GM. I could picture her so clearly in my mind, a fun and fiesty grandma that can certainly hold her own. I loved every scene she was in.
Overall i thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one!
