Now adults, Hilda and Charlotte have stayed close, depending on each other through the years. Both married and Charlotte with children. Their mother, a victim of early Alzheimer's is being released. Hilda and her husband have the opportunity to travel to New Zealand, take care of her mother and buy, remodel and flip their next house.
Hilda's reuniting with her mother is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Unbeknownst to Hilda her former home has been moved from it's original site and her husband buys it. Is it still haunted? Four people died in this house. Hilda's father, her uncle and her grandparents. And one of them is angry!
In moments of lucid thought Hilda's mother mentions things that opens the door for more questions. Was her mother innocent of her father's death....or a serial killer who has killed more than once? Is her mother's friend Neil really trying to help, or does he have some devious plan?
Will the tension in the house tear Hilda and Pete apart?
There's so much to love about this book that I wish I could share. Definitely stands out as one of my favorite reads of 2020. Highly recommended.
Hilda and Charlotte are young children when their father died and their mother charged with murder and went to prison for 20 years.
Now released, Hilda returns to her childhood home where she and her husband are prepared to take care of her mother, as she is now mentally fragile, the beginnings of Alzheimer's.
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, they find themselves the owners of Hilda's childhood home, although it's been moved to a new location. As a child, Hilda always felt the house was haunted, but her parents would pooh-pooh her concerns.
When Hilda swears she has seen her grandmother .. who has been dead many years ... even her husband says she must have been dreaming or has a vivid imagination. Her mother is the only one who believes her .. but that's not the best witness to have.
And then she starts talking about the past ......
(Book Blurb) Obsessed with finding answers, Hilda vows to uncover the secrets of her past, but what she discovers is more disturbing than she could have ever imagined.
This is a remarkable supernatural suspense novel. The plot is well crafted with deftly drawn characters. This is one of those books that you just don't want to put down for any reason. There are twists and turns that lead to a totally unexpected conclusion.
Once in New Zealand Pete looks for a house to buy, quickly finding one he loves. When he takes Hilda to see it she can not believe her eyes-It Is Her Old Family Home!! Now you start to wonder, this is a little strange..Many of her family died in that house, and as a child Hilda thought she heard ghosts roaming around, something her parents dismissed Immediately.
Hilda still hears 'noises' in the house, even though the house looks so different, and starts to think she is hallucinating as she 'sees' her Grandma and even her Dad!
You definitely need to read this exciting story, sure to keep you totally engrossed until the explosive ending!!
I received an ARC from the author, and I offer you my honest thoughts and feelings in this review!!
Just when you think you are hating the right person, you find out ........ well, no spoilers from me. I'll just say I enjoyed this story and having seen photos of her house in New Zealand it made it very special.
Thanks again Netta! Keep on Writing!

We follow a married couple, going off to New Zealand.
The wife used to live there with the family.
Now she wants to see if the old family home, is still there.
They go and pick her mum up from the prison, and she welcomes the couple. Her daughter is back!
I could continue, but would hate to ruin the story.
Although, I will say, I wasn’t expecting that!
My favourite book yet, by Netta Newbound
