I, also, enjoyed the over all plot and wit. I found myself laughing with the characters and cheering them on as they worked on the case and each idea and piece fell into place. I wasn't fond of some of the actions of the characters. Especially when Daniel when to confront McCoy. I wanted to slap the shit out of him... after I was done taking my anger out on McCoy and helping Daniel with his wounds. But we have to remember that books are meant to stir emotion and we aren't always going to agree with everything the characters do. Humans make stupid decisions, too, not only fictional characters.
Another thing that I enjoyed about the book was that it wasn't all about the sex. The sex is well written in the book. I enjoyed it very much. But I found the sex to be more as a secondary thing as the characters grew closer together, which I enjoyed even more. I find that I get bored easily and don't enjoy a book as much when every other page is about sex (not even exaggerating). It's one thing when the book is supposed to be all sex. But there are books that have a whole plot that gets overshadowed by all the sex as if the characters can't do anything else with themselves. Characters can bond and build love and trust together without sex every other page. I've read books where it feels like the only time the characters communicate is through sex. The way this author created the scenes, I felt as if it was an additional way that the bond between Raf and Daniel was developed. It was the situations outside the bedroom that really brought them together and made them realize that they should and were willing to risk it all to be together.
Overall, I found this book to be a very enjoyable read. I'm ready and very excited for the for the next installment.
The story is set in the Chicago city courthouse, and the city D.A.'s office attorneys deal with a member of a local BDSM club. A Dom is banned from the club, and he uses his fellow police vice officers to harass a club member.
From the beginning of their relationship, attorney Daniel and Dom Rafael can't keep their hands (and other parts) off each other.
The legal plot twists and turns deliciously with lots of humor and suspense - and sex. Of course, the attorney gets his Dom, the bad guy gets caught, and a sequel is ready! It's a fun read with a glimpse of BDSM situations.
I'd give this at least. 4.5/5 and only for some mildly irritating grammar flaws. For instance, the author repeatedly uses "male" for "man" throughout, for some reason. Otherwise, the situations are somehow resolved in very convenient (but satisfying) ways. It's also nice to have compliant judges.
I'm looking for the sequel.
A lot of people are so closed mind to this world, but truly JR Gray gives so much depth into his words it makes you want to learn so much more. He makes you truly feel the emotions of each character, the pain and happiness they feel is exactly what you feel reading this book. Every emotion these characters have is what you are going to feel.
With both, the ever sexy Daniel and Jesse being best friends and partners as public defenders for the murder capital of the world, their relationship is unlike any other. Jesse who lives vicariously through Daniels sexual exploits will make you laugh all the way through this book. His witty retorts and personality truly make him shine through this book. Being married to Cill, he knows he cant divorce her because of her father. But when the spark hits between George and him the instant they meet, you can physically feel that connection between them. You just know that something further is going to come of it.
Daniel, who is still riding the high from his sexual experience from the Brazilian tattooed, Rafael the night prior. When he see's that Rafael is the one he is defending in court, he questions it all. Throughout the process Daniel and Jesse defend Rafael trying to clear his name of charges he is innocent of from a former submissive cop. Rafael and Daniel truly are the masterpiece in this book. Their feelings, their connection, their physical attraction and love truly can be felt while reading this book. The way Daniel naturally submits to Rafael is just stunning and truly makes you crave for that type of connection with someone.
