The chemistry between Felicity and Jared is both adorable and electrifying. Felicity is all kinds of innocent, whereas Jared is older than his age. Yet somehow they make the idea of falling in love with an opposite not only feel plausible, but idyllic.
I loved how the doubts and problems that the relationship faces are discussed every step of the way. At no time is the reader left asking whether that situation really would have worked in the real world, but on the flip side the story still does feel heady and romantic.
As always, my love for secondary characters must be addressed, and the author did a fabulous job developing not just characters for future books, but also characters that are clearly meant to support the main players as the series continues.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Well played!
Felicity is an art history grad student employed part time at a gallery. Money is tight for her, but she's got her end goal in sight and she's working towards it. Jared is an ambitious attorney with nothing on his radar except work and more work.
After the cutest meet-cute ever, Felicity and Jared are each aware of the strong chemistry between them. Felicity battles a moderate case of the not-good-enoughs because her background is modest and small-town compared to Jared's wealthy family, while Jared struggles with balancing his professional obligations with his new passion for Felicity.
Jared, it could be argued, is too perfect. He's handsome and successful and charming. He stands up for his girl, loves his family, and performs like a stallion in the sack. He's gentle and sweet, but still just the right amount of dominant when it's naughty time. But I say he's just the right amount of perfect. He's book-boyfriend perfect, and I'm putting in my dibs. The supporting characters - Felicity's bff Layla, her employer Sabine, Jared's friends Thad and Anthony, their families - are all a lot of fun too and add humor and pathos and magic throughout the story. Can't wait to read the promised follow-ups about Thad and Anthony and their true loves!
Both Felicity and Jared are such likable characters that I was in their corner from page 1. I also enjoyed seeing the romance from both Jared and Felicity's perspectives as their decisions are influenced by careers and career goals as their relationship develops.
A quick read which made me giggle and also shed a few tears, Legally Charming is firmly on my keeper shelf and I am looking forward to getting to getting better acquainted with the background characters as this series progresses.
