This is not the first rabbit hole I have followed Ms DaCosta down. I have laughed and cried through the Veil series (Team Akil all the way), through the follow-up Chaos Rises series (too short!), from the space operatic series 1000 Revolution to the underground city with the London Fae, all the way to Egypt with the Soul Eater. I have loved each and every series, and can honestly say that this is yet another stellar series-in-the-making.
From our first meeting of the Thief and the Sorceress until the conclusion, I was gripped, entertained and on the edge of my seat to find out what happened next. There was heartbreak, betrayal, and renewal, and frankly, I hope the next book comes super fast because I want to know MORE!
Whilst I received an ARC in return for an honest review, I have also purchased the Legends of the Damned boxset. So much goodness in one book!
I think this is my absolute favorite book from this author. I've liked everything she's written, but the writing in this story is on a whole different level. This story made me think of a tapestry, richly detailed and very intricate, with a complex story line that even after reading it twice in a row, I keep discovering new details! Vance's character evolution is central to the story, and while Shaianna is the key to his change, she does very little of her own change. And just when you think she has changed, changing the story.......nope, she hasn't which throws off your perceptions of everything you had previously read!! Masterfully done, I truly hope there is a sequel to this book!
Silencing the Siren is the first book that I've read by J.E. Taylor and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The book mixes together mythology with fantasy, danger and a lot of heat. I was immediately engaged into the story right from the beginning and I honestly couldn't get enough. Kylee is a fascinating character but I'm a bit disappointed in her for hesitating as much as she does. She knows the dangers and the consequences of not acting swiftly and decisively. I like that she gets a taste of what has been happening to her brother through a touch of his memories but it should have driven her even more to do what she already knew was necessary to do.
This book is very well written with no noticeable errors to detract from the enjoyment of the story. I love a couple of the twists that are thrown at us. I can honestly say that I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series. I give it two thumbs up and 5 out of 5 stars. I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Pixi Poison an Ashood Novel is a Cursed and Damned Novella by Lee Dignam & Katerina Martinez. In Pixi Poison we are introduced to Pixi. She’s a vampire but she was born a werewolf but due a twist of fate she was bitten and turned. Pixie Poison lives in a border territory between werewolves and vampire she runs a tattoo parlor and she’s okay with her life there. But one evening a pack of werewolves decides to start some mess with her and so she goes to their alpha looking for him to handle his wolves but when he refuses she turns to head vamp in the area next. Even he doesn’t really want to be involved in it so he sends her on her way. Soon Pixi finds herself with a target painted on her back thanks to these wolves harassing her so she goes to the alpha and demands he give her a way to prove herself in an attempt to earn her place and some respect but it’s not going to be an easy thing with those wolves gunning for her.
Pixi Poison is an engaging and gritting story. Pixi is a strong character and kicks a lot of butt but you can really tell that it affects her that she feels that she really doesn’t belong to either side – born a wolf but turned into a vampire. She resents it on a level but has learned to live with how it is. I really love her character and how she has a heart for those who are less fortunate there in the Heights. She’s generous and kind but she’s more than willing to go to town and kick butt when she has to.
Pixi Poison is a dark story but it has a heart too and I really love that about this story. Yes, you see the darkness, the danger and more but you also read much more than that in this story. If you’re looking for a good short read with some dark, danger and some serious teeth then this is definitely a story to check out in this boxed set. You won’t be disappointed. I rate this story 5 out of 5 stars.
Legends of the Damned is really an engaging boxed set that will have you flowing from one story to the next and all the time wanting more from each author that you read. If you’re looking for something dark, engaging, sexy and with some teeth come on in…the darkness is fine and it’s full of fun. You’ll enjoy your stay so come on along.
