Ever since I've heard of R.A. he's been a major influence in my hip hop listening because he constantly reminds me that he's spitting what he's actually living. It also makes me proud to know good hip hop does come out of Long Island, R.A. sets a good example for the mature audience. This new album is no different than his previous two in that you can sense his honesty beneath his witticism and funky G. Rap inspired flow. I play the song "Still Get Through the Day" all the time on my walk home and it's special to me because I feel I can relate to the message of the song: we all encounter suffering but lets make it through anyway by holding hands/helping each other. I've already marked ten of the 18 songs with five out of five stars and the others are very good too. I'm glad R.A. dropped this album and I look forward to his future releases.

This is a great album. I've known about Rugged Man for a while as a boxing journalist but I believe the only song I heard from him was his track "Stanley Kubrick" on Soundbombing 2 which I didnt like at all. Great album, but I always skipped over that track. I kind of bought this on a whim because of the guest artists and sound samples and I'm glad I did because its probably lyrically one of the best albums I've heard. Some of the beats sound a little old school and all over the place, but they've grown on me more after some more listens. The highlight is definitely "Definition of a rap flow", which I probably listened to 3 times in a row to get what all he was saying. My other favorites are Tom Thum, Media Midgets, Legends Never Die, and the bonus track Make you Famous. I definitley suggest this if you are into hip hop of any kind, or even if you aren't and think that rapping doesn't take any talent. This may change your mind

I admit. I have given other albums 5 stars. But, man oh man, this album deserves 6! RA the Rugged Man came thru with a sleeper hit. This album is absolutely perfect. After "wow"ing me with his track with J-Zone (Brawl- I am a huge J Zone fan) I purchased (not downloaded) his first album. Loved it. So, then I heard his verse on JMT's "UnCommon Valor" and which he spit probably one of the best verses in the history of hip hop. I needed to hear more. Being underground, I had no idea this album was coming out. And, here it is. Wow. This guy has one of the best flows and has great lyrics to go with it. This albums knocks from beginning to end. Don't be suprised if this album becomes a hip hop classic. Support real artist and buy this album.

Probably one of the smartest music purchases I've ever made, and I've got 100s of albums consisting of all the greats. RA The Rugged Man has yet to receive the recognition he deserves, and he's been in the game for a long time now. Do yourself a favor, buy this, NOW, and support a talented artist. This album has music you can workout/run to, music you can relax to, and music you can cry to. This is the whole package. Forget the critics, 10/10.

RA the Rugged Man is a legendary figure in hip hop, although widely un-recognized. It's immensely pleasing to hear him drop an album that any hip-hop enthusiast no matter how unfamiliar with history of the genre, can appreciate and recognize RA's mastery.

His flow is incredibly entertaining, fast and diverse while maintaining that flavor of old-school east coast rap. Beats are industry quality mixing everything from funk to jazz to Mozart to classic hip-hop samples. And the lyrics are varied and interesting. All this results in an album that has party pleasers like "Definition of a Rap Flow", nasty pornographic anthems, dark and intense collaborations with Talib Kweli and Vinnie Paz and "Legends Never Die" a tearful tribute to RA's late father whose war escapades were first told in the highly praised "Uncommon Valor" by Rugged Man and Jedi Mind Tricks.

Most importantly though, at least for fans of Rugged Man, the album shows incredible "character progression" of RA since his first cd "Die Rugged Man, Die" in 2004. The bitterness and self-deprivation of that nevertheless excellent album are gone in Legends Never Die. Instead RA seems to be a new man, who has reached success on a personal level despite all the tribulations in his life and is ready for more. From the very first song to a beautiful outro the album manages to be radiant and life-proposing despite lots of dark themes throughout several songs.

It's a very pleasant album to listen to on emotional level and for anyone who enjoys good quality beats and masterfully delivered rhymes it's an excellent choice.

One of a handful of artist I listen to with production past 2000.....also the top of that handful of artist I listen to. His old stuff while limited is better tho. But I can't believe "Shoot Me In The Head" that song is ridiculous. I wonder if RA wanted to make sure his newer generation knows what he's all about. Overall, excellent and unique with dirty, crusty, daddy po' bucks, rhymes. Really glad to see this from RA in this horrific lapse of real hip hop heads in this day and age....hope many more to follow from him.

RA the Rugged Man dropped a true hip hop gem outta nowhere with this album! This is for the real hip hop heads. As soon as i heard the intro track i purched the album. I knew Rugged was dope but this was my first purchase of his and i was so happy to support this project! This album has it all. Lyrical bullets aimed at the music industry, cocky raps with funny punchlines, deep personal tracks, tracks about politics, all over dope boom bap beats! This almbum is better with every listen. RA did this for true hip hop fans that miss the golden era. Highly recommended

This is the best album of 2013, the lyrics are raw and the features don't hurt the album at all. R.A. The Rugged Man delivers a true hip-hop album definitely stands out from other rap albums being released now "you other rappers I'm going to obliterate". The album is dedicated to his father that passed away and he has a few songs dedicated to him but that does not take away how great this album is. If you want a true hip-hop album that is recent than this is definitely one that should be bought.
