- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2025Great movie that sets the stage for three future movies.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2025Loved this series and was happy to see the whole series finally available. The art in a little dark on the packaging, so they could lighten it up just a little, but this is a good series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023While I agree whole-heartedly with those that hated the character assassination in this storyline, overall it played well and non-fans will love this Supergirl and her adventure with the LEGION. But I think we're at an end of an era. In the past, the animated efforts were fans of the previous texts. Clearly they aren't going forward, so as much as this story succeeds, it's also a sign of writers who don't appreciate the work that came before. The stories 'before' are good. They created fans. Passionate fans, but to continue to think one is 'superior' to the tales that came before isn't going to win fans. It's going to create the kind of detractors that tell others not to bother. That this isn't 'legit'.
You will enjoy this movie if you're not a fan of the Legion, and if this is your first time with them. Accept that and celebrate. But if you are a fan before seeing this movie maybe consider that your purchase/stream will promote this kind of production going forward.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2025This is a well-done BD disk which, for some reason, is /transparent/. It plays fine.
This is a Supergirl origin story, starting with her evacuation from Krypton and being knocked off course. She reaches Earth to find her cousin, AKA Superman, fully grown instead of an infant.
Since she was sent off as a teenager, she has a definite preference for the way things were and a dislike of 21st century Earth. She is also prone to doing more damage than Batman will tolerate.
So Superman exiles her to the 31st century, where things are closer to what she wants, and enrolls her in the Leagion of Super-Heroes Academy for socialization.
So, yes, this is a High School film. But the core of it is not teenage antics; it is a plot by a mysterious group called "The Circle" to steal a powerful weapon that the Legion has conveniently stored next to the Academy. Lots of action and a good plot make this a winner.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2025Great move well done, don't get alot of video option for the legion of super heros and I always wanted to see the bad guy get taken out that way, just wish brainiac 5 wasn't bald
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2025Great movie
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2023As the sixth chapter of DC's "Tomorrowverse" line of animated movies, Legion Of Super-Heroes gives another introduction of Supergirl to an established continuity, but instead of getting her own title like in the Arrowverse she leads in the long-running series of the same name. There isn't a need to see any of the previous Tomorrowverse movies prior to watching this, although its ending does lead into the upcoming Justice League: Warworld film.
The story opens up with Kara just escaping Krypton during its destruction only to end up stuck in cryogenics for several years as her baby cousin Kal grew up on Earth. Now reunited with Superman, Kara adopts the name of Supergirl to help the Man of Steel in his never-ending battle, but her lack of experience using her newfound powers cause the other Justice League members to worry about her. Superman offers her the chance to travel into the distant future and join its team of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Supergirl joins as a recruit hoping for a single spot in the Legion along with several other wannabe teenagers including the grandson of Superman's enemy, Brainiac-5. The Girl of Steel and the 12th level intellect android become very competitive all while unraveling a plot by the mysterious terrorist organization known as the Dark Circle which is revealed to be run by the 21st Century version of Brainiac. A betrayal by one of the Legion's own helps the Dark Circle get a hold of the Miracle Machine which is a high-tech wishing machine capable of changing the entire universe. Supergirl and Brainiac-5 form a unique bond as they try to stop the villains while freeing their fellow Legionnaires.
The Legion's first film is a step-up from the TV series they had in the mid-2000s, also featuring voice over by the original series Superman voice actor Yuri Lowenthal as Mon-El, a futuristic fan of Krypton with questionable motives. This movie was slightly above the par of more recent DC animated productions, even though it lacks the grip that the previous Green Lantern film had. There are plenty of plot holes in it as well, like why if Brainiac had access to time travel that he didn't use it to get the Miracle Machine in the past when it has less security surrounding it. Even though most superhero movies involving time travel tend to skip alot of details like this, although the comradery between Supergirl and the other Legionnaires it is a bonus turning the spotlight on this team that has had a strong fandom for several decades.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2023This movie is what I've come to expect from DC animation, awesome. This original story is really fun. The journey supergirl goes on is great to watch her learn how to really be a super hero. A must watch for fans who love great story telling
