Product Description
LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu Masters of Spinjitzu: a new force to save the world! The world of Ninjago is in terrible danger. An army of skeletons has invaded from the underworld, under the command of the evil Lord Garmadon. Their goal: capture the Four Weapons of Spinjitzu, artifacts so powerful it is said no one being can wield them all at once. Now Garmadon’s brother, the heroic Sensei Wu, must gather four young men and train them in the ways of the ancient art of Spinjitzu. These four – Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole – must become ninja and stand against the dark power of Garmadon and his evil skeleton army. If they fail, the four weapons will be lost and Ninjago doomed forever.
Amazon.com
The two-part adventure Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is based on a line of toys Lego introduced in 2011. Kai, a young blacksmith, is eager--too eager--to forge a great sword. He initially snubs the unassuming Sensei Wu, the master of Spinjitzu martial arts. When Kai's sister Nya is kidnapped by Samukai and his skeleton army from the Underworld, Wu realizes the evil Garmadon is using Samukai to find four legendary weapons that will give him enormous power. Wu trains Kai to join his student-warriors, Jay, Zane, and Cole, and keep Garmadon from seizing power. Masters of Spinjitzu is a lightweight, product-based adventure, but it's not a terribly original one. The training sequence, which pits Kai against a series of armed mechanical devices, borrows heavily from Kung Fu Panda. Other elements recall Naruto and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the filmmakers blithely mix Chinese, Japanese, and Western elements. But little kids who love their Lego toys will probably overlook these shortcoming and enjoy the adventure, which is obviously designed to kick off a series. Parents should be prepared to field requests for the many toys that appear in Masters of Spinjitzu. (Unrated; suitable for ages 5 and older: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon

- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2020This release contains the 44 minute pilot for the Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu and it does a decent job at introducing these characters to the viewer and giving the lowdown on the little plot that happens during this short outing. Keep in mind that this is definitely not required to watch Seasons 1 and Beyond of Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu as the 1st episode of season one gives enough context to the situation of what happened here for it to be skippable if you like. But if you want the full story I recommend it.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2013Aside from using a phrase that we don't use in our house... "we kicked their boney bu_ts!". We really enjoyed the humor and excitement of all of the lego ninjago movies. My kids have watched it several times and I love that it brings their toys to life in their minds. They always play with their toys more after watching the movie. Very entertaining. I would not recommend it for younger kids (younger than 5 or so), because there is a definite bad/evil, and it can be scary, with skeletons, etc. Not a wholesome, lesson-filled movie, just a movie for fun.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2014Our 5 year old grandson can't get enough of the Ninjago series. I wish all of season 3 would be available in the USA, but apparently it's not. (Why can other countries get it and we can't? Bummer!) One thing I, as a septuagenarian adult, like very much is that the characters have a moral compass, even though there is the usual cartoon mayhem. Also, the oriental aesthetic is a refreshing change from the ordinary cartoon graphics. Well done.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2012This is a great new series of legos! My son loves them and he's 8! I love that LEGO is making movies for their toys...my son will watch these! And even though it's a little pricey for 2 episodes, I'm so thankful because they are clean and fun! The other stuff he wants to watch sometimes...not so much! Also, Amazon promised me the DVD on the day of release...the 27th...and I got it that day. Amazon is a life saver for me sometimes!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2013Great animation, just didn't interest my 4 year old - he has not asked to watch it again. We'll archive it until he's older and maybe then it will be a hit...to be continued.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2012Both my four year old daughter AND my eight year old son have fallen hard for the Lego Ninjago stories. This short movie was the the pilot for the series, but is a stand alone story of how the four ninjas meet and become a team. The villian group is made up of skeletons, which originally made me leary, but the skeletons are not scary and are played for laughs. The female character in this isn't quite as strong and independant as she becomes in the series, but I'm the only one who seemed to mind the stereotypes. We actually watch this one more than season 1, which we also own, as this only the equivalent of a couple of episodes and as mentioned above is a contained story. Worth every penny, even though it's under an hour. Also has some funny "outtakes" in the extras.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2014Of all the new cartoons in tv these days my granddaughter Hailey just loves these guys yes girl she really likes kai and nya , the brother and sister action in this she just loves it we(I) actually have her spoiled on this have actually bought several items on Amazon for her like the backpacks sheets and comforter sets now we just need the curtains so if you make them available we will buy them LOL
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2012First of all it was cheaper than Toy's R Us online. The DVD came earlier than expected. It is the 1st four episode of Ninjago. Nothing more, I could watch it online, but the definition was bad and my daughter wants to watch it all the time. It was a good price and Amazon refunded me a dollar when the price decreased. Over all a good buy.
