The Leica Geovid HD-B 10x42 Binoculars enable the ultimate in optical performance in every viewing situation. Their high contrast and edge-to-edge image sharpness ensure identification of even the smallest details. The use of innovative concepts like High Definition (HD) optics – the use of fluoride glasses – in their construction guarantees a viewing image with particularly high contrast. The binoculars have complete freedom from color fringing and edge-to-edge brilliance and sharpness, even in the twilight hours and when visibility is poor. The brightness of the LED display adjusts automatically to ambient lighting conditions and shows the determined values with optimum brightness and clarity under any conditions. The Leica AquaDura coating on the exposed glass surfaces means dirt and water on the lenses just roll away and improves viewing performance, particularly in rainy weather. Therefore, these binoculars will always provide optimum performance, even in adverse weather conditions and extremely humid environments. A further advantage of this special coating is that the lenses can now be cleaned even more quickly and easily. The new Geovid HD-B 42 binoculars deliver dependable measuring results at a range now extended to around 1,800 metres (1,825 m/2,000 yds) and open up entirely new fields of use for orientation in unfamiliar terrain.Features: extremely long laser range of up to 1825 metresAdvanced Ballistic Compensation (ABC) for all hunting needspoint of aim correction for various reticles and ASV (rapid reticle adjustment)input of the hunters own ballistic parameters with a microSD memory cardcalculations include angle, temperature and barometric pressure dataextraordinarily bright, clear and easily legible LED display with automatic adjustment to ambient lighting conditionsextremely short measuring time of von max. 0.3 seconds<

Optical quality is second to none, these binos are in a class by themselves (the only competition IMHO are the Swarovski EL Range) Direct comparison of optic image quality to my lesser brand binos really demonstrated the difference for me. The image is bright and clear across the entire field of view which is also wider than my standard 10x42 binos. Low light gathering capability at dawn and dusk is considerably better than my lesser brands and should extend my evening hunting times by another 5 to 10 minutes.
The laser ranging capability is amazing!! I've ranged large targets out 1860+ yards thus far. The reading is almost instantaneous at ranges less than 1000 yards. The display is a red open target square that's easy to see in all light conditions and pinpoint your target. One quick push brings up the target circle and a second push gives you the range in standard or metric units. The ability to custom load your specific rifles ballistics into the unit and have it automatically compensate for temperature, pressure and inclinations was a real decision point for me purchasing these. The other point for me was that the LED displays are in the right ocular tube. For some individuals this would not be a big issue, but if you're right eye dominant or have a lazy left eye such as myself then it's a critical detail as the Swarovski EL Range display is in the left ocular tube.
Construction is top notch and rugged as you would expect from Leica. I found the unique "banana shape" and open bridge design of the ocular tubes to be ergonomic and easy to hold eliminating hand fatigue. The unit as a whole is a little large and on the heavy side at 34 oz., but you have to remember that you're carrying two pieces of equipment in one. The weight for me was negligible and since I use a shoulder harness and not a neck strap it was really a non-issue. The only disappointment I had were the lens caps, which do not stay on very well, but this can be fixed with a variety of aftermarket products.
Yep they are pricey, but you get what you pay for. Trust me when I say that I read every review that I could find before purchasing them and seriously weighed the pros and cons. I can honestly say that after doing so I have no regrets.
I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking to purchase the last binocular/rangefinder combo they will ever need.
Everything else is world class as expected. I hunt long range in the mountains and the average range on medium targets is 700+ . First time out I was able to range rocks and tress at over 1800. Not a misprint, that's one thousand eight hundred + yards. Function is fast and easy. If you have the need, these are expensive but its money well spent. I have wasted more than these cost on all the others I tried before landing in these.
Need to figure out the ballistics. The directions and YouTube videos are very easy to follow.
I am extremely happy with this toy.
