I needed a light weight camera that takes quality photos. I purchased Leica because of the Leica reputation for excellence.
I like to enlarge my photos and I found that my 4 year old Sony camera did not have the pixels to create enlarged photos. That was a waste of money. I decided it was time go for something amazing that I could trust.
Using the Leica D-Lux 7 I took my shots using the zoom and then did the enlarging on my computer. The photos were amazing.
I almost returned the camera because I had a problem pairing it to my phone. At first I spoke to Amazon's service agent, she tried to help me with the connection issue. That was a big mistake, she reached out to the seller Murry's Camera and they told her that they have had an issue with this camera and suggested I buy another brand. I doubted that Leica would have a camera that was defective on the market so I called Leica. Leica was amazing and walked me through the necessary steps to make the pairing. I am thrilled with this purchase. Money well spent . I highly recommend that if you have any problems that you call Leica and they will work resolve the issues. My problem was not the camera, it was me not following the exact steps in the manual and Leica gave me another and easier way to connect.

I bought this camera two years ago. I picked it up because I got tired of schlepping around a DSLR and lens to places and events on my free time; for commissioned and professional work, I shoot with DSLR and mirrorless systems. But for the day to day? Those camera bodies can be too much. This little camera flew under the radar just as I expected that it would; it's nonintrusive as a point and shoot, and it's got enough manual controls for me to steer the camera in my creative process. I found it easier to be a fly on the wall at different events with family and friends, as it's a small and unassuming camera, and the special bonus was my ability to download the JPGs to my phone and photo dumping them to everyone at the end of the night. It's also an amazing camera to take photography seriously as an art. It's not THE BEST camera, it's definitely not the best Leica camera on the market. But it's a great little camera for sure. The raw photos preserve a lot of great detail, and the photos look absolutely great printed. I grew to really love this little camera; there's hardly a day that goes by that I leave my house without it strapped to my body.

The only downside is: if you use this camera the way that I do (in all types of environments, weather, etc.), beware that the camera body and lens are NOT weather-sealed. After a recent trip, I noticed dust specs in the sensor that I could not remove on my own. And because the Leica warranty for this camera is only 2 years (if you buy it from Amazon), my camera is now out of warranty. So at the moment, the camera is sitting on my shelf, waiting for me to send it out to Leica to get the sensor cleaned.

I knew going into this purchase that this was an issue with the camera, so I'm not mad. But it's lack of weather sealing and its vulnerability to dust is the reason why I'm giving this camera a 4 out of 5.

Still, I stand by this camera. Once I get it cleaned, you can bet that I'll go back to carrying it around with me all the time.
