When installing this you have to make sure that both ends of it are SECURED to the wall. If either is not secured, the clothes will weigh it down and tear it from the wall. I was installing in a basement laundry room with drywall and studs on one side and poured cement on the other. I was able to screw into the studs on the drywall side, but on the cement side I used concrete anchors and construction adhesive (that's some strong stuff!) to mount a wood board to which I screwed the included hooks into. It all took about 20 minutes - not including the set time for the adhesive.
The unit is retractable which is good. There are 5 lines attached to the bar, you pull the bar out and attach it to the hooks mounted on the opposite wall. Then there is a knob that you turn to lock the line taught. Overall, this unit is ok. I do not hang wet jean or heavy pants or sweaters on it because it just doesn't seem strong enough to me. I do use it for underclothes, socks, tee shirts, tank tops and such and it works great. Sheets would probably work fine too.
Note that I only have mine stretching a distance of about 4 feet, but there is more line than that. So I don't know how clothes would hang if you have it pulled out the maximum distance.
I would buy again if I needed more space to hang light clothes.
We were able to take it apart and get the spring in place so it worked again for a little while, but then t popped out of place again. At that point we resigned to manually winding the string back up. The string got uneven and it ended up just being too much hassle.

I've been using a fold away clothes drying rack for years, which was a pain to have to put away every time i wanted to use it - and an eye sore. This retractable one is awesome. Read morePublished 2 months ago by glotzy
It's a very good idea but one end would always fall off the wall. If I could get it to stay on the wall it would be great. But one end always fall off the wall.Published 3 months ago by Layc
In my bathroom (we don't have a detour), easy to set up and use. I've read reviews about not being sturdy enough, but I've filled the lines and never had any problem with it.Published 5 months ago by Ligia D.
Hard for me to say it's high quality. I got a dud at least. Will try another brandPublished 5 months ago by Kevin
The clothing line itself seems great, but all the mounting hardware is missing from the box, including the special fitted bracket, so I have no way to actually mount it on a wall. Read morePublished 5 months ago by Perpetual Student
Good product, but mounting is unnecessarily complex and doesn't hold well with included hardware.Published 7 months ago by Amazon Customer
This is great. Makes drying my clothes indoors so easy. I like the fact that it's retractable, but even with it hung up all the time it's not very noticeable.Published 7 months ago by KMichelle
I love this item! It is not strong enough for large towels or jeans, but I use another rack for those anyway, so it works well!Published 8 months ago by Heli Morrison
