Blog postI did a very quick social distance photo with Gus O’Hara in his Spar shop on Vernon Avenue to show that “Lasting Scars” is available.
As I am an experienced Photoshop user and well versed in composites and merging photographs I was able to blend the two photos below:
Local author Lenny Brando in O’Hara’s Spar Store, Clontarf. Gus O’Hara in O’Hara’s Spar Store, Clontarf. I isolated Gus from the second photo using Photoshop and created this:

Blog postOne of the first things you notice when you begin a novel is the narrative style, which some may refer to as writing style or narrative structure.
I dislike a story told in the first person e.g. I went to the supermarket to buy tins of tomatoes but as the shelves were empty, I left without getting anything. Even more, I have a strong distaste for present tense which many contemporary authors, especially crime fiction, now seem to prefer. Blog postCreating a relevant and succinct novel title is not easy. To help with this, I spent a wonderful week in Anam Cara in the Bearra Peninsula in West Cork. Anam Cara is a writers and artists retreat in a splendid location run by Sue, and I go once or twice a year to concentrate on writing.

Blog postI decided to recreate Madonna by Edvard Munch as an experiment (as much for fun as for the end result) using photographs, brushes and actions in Photoshop.
First step was to identify a good version on which to base the concept, so I went to my book by John Boulton Smith and photographed the print. In the end, I also used another version which had more blue in it to change the colours and tone in the final background, but this wasn’t strictly necessary, more a matter of aesthetics than11 months ago Read more -
Blog postSunset, Bearra, County Cork. Five Dead I received the editor’s comments on the first draft of “Five Dead in Richmond”. Much as I expected, there is a lot of work ahead. I haven’t yet begun to examine the assessment in detail as I am occupied with a photographic project on Tarot cards. Further, the photographic project leads me to create other images, thereby taking up more of my time.
Because I have scheduled time to work on a final draft of “Stalking Alice”, it will be several mont11 months ago Read more -

Blog postI have finished the second draft of ‘Five Dead in Richmond’, a murder investigation novel.
The manuscript is due for editing in early December 2019 and I hope to have another draft completed by February 2020 and another review will follow that.
The novel is written in past tense, multiple points of view, with one point of view per chapter. I have kept the chapters short, I believe the longest chapter is around 2000 words, with the shortest perhaps 350, about a single printed p1 year ago Read more -
