I chose to purchase thru Southfield because their price was approx. $40.00 less then most of their competition for the same machine The DVD recorder was purchased 3/2013 but was NIB and the date of manufacture on the machine was 1/ 2008. I called Lonovo to register the machine for warranty purposes, since it was 5 years old. One of the supervisors at Lonovo stated that there is a 1 year warranty and in order to keep the warranty intact, you must have the original invoice from the seller (Amazon) (I also found out that Lovono is a partner with IBM). Southfield also offers a 30-day warranty. The DVD records music on CD and videos on DVD. Since this also is a lightscribe machine, by reversing the side of the cd/dvd disc and placing it back in the driver you are able to print a design/picture but only in grey NOT color This machine does run quite well and do print a beautiful B/W picture on the DVD discs. Machine has two connecting plugs, One is a.regular plug to insert into an electrical receptacle for a PC, or a USB plug for **Mac. The package also comes with software which is compatible with both a PC or Mac Mac**. I chose to purchase thru Southfield because their price was approx. $40.00 less then most of their competition for the same machine The DVD recorder was purchased 3/2013 but was NIB and the date of manufacture on the machine was 1/ 2008. I purchased this after a lot of research. I had my doubts but thought I would give it a try. I was concerned about it not showing windows 7 and 8. I had no problem putting in the CD, updating it to windows 7/8. The print is fine for my needs. I did not expect it to have the results of duplicators that cost in the hundreds. For $49.99, you can not expect more and it looks nice. It looks more professional than writing a title on a disc or using a while label.

This unit is NOT LightScribe but Amazon is superb!

This unit is NOT LightScribe. I made this purchase to use on mac or windows and make my own printed on discs. The unit works like it should but it does NOT do LightScribe! I did contact Amazon and found a replacement (other brand-model) that did do LightScribe and not only does it do a beautiful job at it - it save me over $70! Amazon is so awesome to conduct business like this with. They take all the "sting" of getting something that doesn't work or work like it should out of it. I am a true AMAZON friend!

Lenovo LightScribe DVD Burner

This DVD burner has, according to the technician I e-mailed, a compatibility issue with Windows 8. His suggestion was to update the driver for the Lenovo. That's not what I had in mind when I purchased it; I expected it to work out of the box, not having to update the drivers for it. I returned it. I will say that it did arrive in the time allotted by the company and the tech support was easily available.
