Product Description

Ultradurable Construction
A rubber bumper around the top cover absorbs the force of bumps to the side of the system. The corners are 50-percent stronger, to reduce damage when dropped at an angle. The bezel is thicker, to protect the LED panel. The hinges and brackets have been strengthened, to last 50,000 cycles and to withstand more force to the cover. Reinforced ports and a reduced gap between anchor keys help prevent accidental damage from a bored child's exploring fingers. This is one tough machine.

MIL-SPEC Tested
Military-specification testing validates the ruggedness, durability, and quality of ThinkPad products by testing against eight parameters: high pressure, humidity, vibration, high temperature, temperature shock, low pressure (15,000 ft), low temperature, and dust.

ThinkVantage Active Protection System (APS)
For models with traditional hard drives, an accelerometer detects movement and stops the drive when a fall or similar event is detected. Rubber mounts are used for the hard disk drive (rather than rails) and the HDD connector is not rigidly attached to the board, so the connector absorbs shock and impact and protects against system damage.

Stereo Speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio
This suite of audio technologies enables your ThinkPad to deliver a crisp, clear surround sound experience over its built-in stereo speakers. The technology increases audio clarity for VoIP applications, maximizes volume output without distortion, and improves dialogue clarity when watching videos. Enjoy an immersive surround sound experience whether listening to a lecture or kicking back with a movie.

I did a little research before buying this laptop. This powerful little laptop runs very fast and efficient. I love the size and convenience of it. It is light and durable, perfect for everyday use or you can take it with you for a long trip. The keyboard is very comfortable to use. The battery life is amazing. I gave this computer a five stars.

This little laptop is a joy to work with! We've looked around, and it blows other options at this price point (I got the $269 Woot deal) out of the water in most aspects.

Good: fastest current mobile Celeron N2000 processor, and although I can definitely tell it's not as smooth as the i5 and i7 systems I have with "heavy" web content, it's more than snappy enough for what we intend to use it for (browsing, Office, light work tasks). 4GB RAM has been doing well, and it's upgradable to 8GB if you need. The 128GB SSD keeps things from bogging down, and you can use the SD card slot to easily and cheaply add 256GB (or you could use the USB3 slot also). The keyboard is very nice, with actual raised keys and good tactile feel. Screen and sound quality are very nice. Networking is AC dual band, Bluetooth, and it even has an ethernet port. It's sturdy and doesn't seem like it would damage too easily.

Less good: relatively low screen resolution and size. Although it would have been more costly, a 12" or 13" screen with smaller bezel would be the thing that made this a "six star" laptop. It's also a bit heavy for its size, but that's what you get if you want something not so flimsy. Did I mention the screen is small?

It does not come with a lot of bloatware preinstalled. You get the usual so-many month subscription to McAfee, which luckily is easy to remove. It also has various rather useless Lenovo applications, and you can tell it's a super-standard build: even though the laptop has an SSD, it comes with an "active protection" agent meant for HDDs turned on. I find it pretty easy with modern Windows to remove/disable these things.

Added a picture of the insides: the RAM, SSD, and battery are all replaceable. Might even be able to upgrade the processor when newer Celerons come out, but I didn't feel like taking off the heat sink just to see if it's a socketed processor

I am an IT person with some very fast custom built PCs at home and at work. This is not one of them, nor did I expect it to be. I just needed a small, cheap, but well-built laptop for my garage work bench. It will be around all types of hazards and I wouldn’t mind a little nick here and there. This fit that bill perfectly.

I am giving it 5 starts not because it is great or fast, but because it is exactly what I would expect from a $239.00 laptop. It also has an SSD and Windows 10 pro. If you were to buy just those two items it would cost more than the laptop itself. So while this little laptop isn’t going to break any speed records, it more than adequate for looking things up while I work, responding to a quick email while out in the garage, or keeping an eye on things at work.

Pros:
Seems very well made and laid out
Rugged
Win 10 Pro
128 GB SSD
USB 3.0
Clear and bright LCD Screen

Cons:
Proprietary Power connector
No very fast
Built in Touch Pad not very responsive

I bought this laptop mainly for travel, hoping for sturdy and light-weight, with reasonable performance. It's all of those. It's a Thinkpad 11e, model 20D9-0020US, mfg Dec. 28. 2015, with Celeron N2940 quad-core, 4GB RAM, and a Liteon LCH-128V2s SSD. Win 10 Pro, 64-bit. Lenovo provides a very comprehensive diagnostic test, which I ran several times. Everything passed. I added a SanDisk Ultra 32 GB SDHC card for photo and music storage, and a Microsoft 3500 wireless USB mouse. The SDHC barely protrudes from the side; the mouse dongle sticks out about 1/4" Initial setup was smooth, but download and install of Win 10 major updates took a couple hours over a fast Ethernet connection. Be patient. Windows Uninstall removed McAfee and MS Office trial versions, and a few other non-useful programs. Installed inexpensive office suite, Norton Internet Security, Firefox, Chrome, Thunderbird, Java, and Flash (yes I know, but this thing will be used mostly for Web browsing and email, and I am very careful about updates). Switched over to WiFi on day 2, and have been on it ever since - no issues at all, and a Windows-reported connection speed of 120 Mbps or higher. Crucial recommends 8GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM module for RAM upgrade, but I have not bothered yet and probably won't. The machine cold boots in roughly 15 sec, and shuts down even faster. Programs load very quickly. It goes to sleep exactly as I set it, and wakes very quickly to my lockscreen. I did have to turn on "USB power when asleep" in the BIOS, so that mouse movement would wake the machine. But just pressing the Fn key works as well. Its Bluetooth runs my portable speaker very nicely. Keyboard feels good to me; touchpad works OK, but I don't like them in general.Read more ›

The Good..... Size and price are great. I am still getting my head around Windows 10 which has a number of good features once I get them memorize. .Setting up a Home group network took a little effort but finally worked well.
The Bad:.... The caps lock key does not have a light on it to show when it is on. There is supposed to be a 3 second alert that appears on the screen when caps lock key is pressed, but this works erratically and infrequently. The fixes offered on line are not helpful as the control panel does not provide a screen which allows enabling of these keys. A driver update is another option I do not have the courage to try yet. This is a major flaw for a function we use frequently and can really mess up password typing. Another frustrating feature is the lack of a useful set of tips for getting started. The package insert did not fully describe all the buttons and ports on the side. Don't tell me to look at the 50 page on line manual. Put a one page "getting started" insert into the box so I can learn basic navigating the first day.
