Great refurbished machine, impressive seller.

This wasn't quite the same X201 3626FRU machine as in the original Amazon product description here from which I made the purchase (since I received an X201 3626W58), but I was highly impressed with the price of this refurbished notebook from Data Sales Co and, at this point at least (having only had this machine for a day), I have to commend this seller on the quality of packaging, appearance and condition of this notebook. This Lenovo notebook is already a predictably great machine in a classic line of ultraportable business machines, so there's not much to be added to the praise it has received. So I'll focus these comments on the seller, Data Sales Co, which for $205 provided not only all but one of the machine specifications in the original ad, but exceeded several. The one spec not met was the inclusion of a fingerprint reader, but I can live without that, especially at this price level. Otherwise, this X201 included a 320 Gb HDD, 4Gb SDRAM (twice the amount quoted in the original Amazon ad), a flawless display, battery in "Good" condition with "55" cycles according to the Lenovo battery condition report and, amazingly, an extra included Ultrabase dock with a DVD/RW ultraslim drive installed. So not only do I highly recommend Lenovo thinkpads (I've owned several and bought several more for other users), but I also highly recommend Data Sales Co if you are ever looking, as I was, for a cheap, refurbished machine in good shape.

Best Chromebook for the money, I believe

I bought this unit from Lenovo, but wanted to post a review here in the hope it will be useful.
This is the Chromebook I’ve been looking for. I appreciate the speed, simplicity, and elegance of Chrome OS. I haven’t been as impressed with so many of the Chromebooks on the market, and I have typed on, hefted, surfed a bit etc. on almost all of them. Many are not bad, but the overall sense is “cheap and cheesy,” lots of plastic and little gaps in the seams.
For just a little more money, the ThinkPad Chromebook 13 offers a terrific alternative. This baby is built like a ThinkPad: excellent fit and finish, obvious strength in the hinges, a great IPS screen, and of course the incomparable ThinkPad keyboard. No, this unit does not have the little red rubber TrackPoint thingie: I don’t miss it, but anyway it is not there. The keyboard is not backlit, which I suppose would have been nice. What we have here is a light, elegant, rugged, beautifully built machine, running Chrome OS, ready to get some good work done.
A few more details: the unit comes with 4 GB of RAM. Chromebooks run okay on 2GB, but you want 4GB for a truly smooth and pleasing experience. There are different screen options: I paid a little more for the HD screen (1900 x 1200) and I’m glad I did. The screen compares very favorably to the best IPS screens out there in the consumer market. The keyboard is the proper Chromebook keyboard, with what I consider to be a friendlier layout of certain of the function keys -- for search, full screen and such. Typing on this machine truly is a pleasure.
Two more things to say. First, I made a small error in my initial order through Lenovo. I had a very positive experience working with a helpful, polite, and knowledgeable customer service representative. It was my error, mind you, and her helpfulness reflects very well on Lenovo. Last, if you have tried other Chromebooks, liked the idea, but not the physical realization of the idea, give the ThinkPad Chromebook a shot. I think you will be very pleased.

The used laptop I received from Sugar River Electronics had better specs than advertised. Instead of an Intel I5 2420 it had an Intel I5 2440, and instead of a 320 GB hard drive it had a 750GB hard drive. It was also advertised as having no webcam and no fingerprint reader. The hardware was there, but no drivers. I have downloaded the drivers and now have to figure out how to activate these features. I also had to go through several Windows Update cycles to get it current. The computer arrived in good shape, with only minor cosmetic issues. It has a plethora of ports, except for HDMI. A Display Port to HDMI adaptor will take care of that. I did add another 4 GB of ram to the laptop to boost performance. I may swap out an SSD into the optical drive bay and use an external optical drive. Overall, I am satisfied for it being a 3 year old computer.

Refurbished? Maybe Used..

Before I start I wanted to share that I am a Director of Information Technologies and I only purchase Lenovo Think Pads for Windows laptops - so I have a lot of experience with these.
I have given this a two start rating only because the description says that they are "This Certified Refurbished product is tested & certified to look and work like new by a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher." - but they do not "look" new, one first run and short testing they do operate as new.
I have ordered two T420 from this seller - perhaps the issue comes down in part to what is consider refurbished?
On the first machine the right front corner where the top and bottom come together overlap each other at the headphone jack.
This is because either the top or bottom case is not the correct part to match up to the other, the mold lines don't match.
Last for this machine - it has thin sticker 'skin" on the top deck of the keyboard area of the case. It gives the case the classic stipple texture that the Lenovo's have and I imagine covers any imperfections from previous use. This skin is on the top deck, although not very noticeable to the eye but the skin is very noticeable to the touch. This skin is not going to last long as the edges are already lifting. On the first T420 the right corner again, top deck, the skin is not sticking so it was already raised, so it will not be long before it starts to peel off.
I was hoping that on the second T420 it would be in better condition.
The first notable issue is the screen and visible light distorted vertical lines which look like scratches but are not noticeable to the touch.
Lenovo screens are made up of layers so this is some kind of scratch or imperfection in the layer. Notice in the picture that you can see the screen pixel grid but the vertical distortions appear as scratches to the eye.
Back to the top deck - the right rear corner the top deck and bottom are not together - this time the problem is not the wrong part its just not assembled correctly.
This machine also as a skin that gives the case the classic stipple texture that the Lenovo's have. This skin is on the top deck and although not very noticeable as a skin to the eye, edges of the skin are very noticeable to the touch. As example if you are using the touch pad and slide your fingers to the mouse buttons your fingers hang on the edges of the skin that have been placed on the mouse buttons. The skin actually makes the button taller than the mouse touch pad. This skin is not going to last long as the edges are already lifting. The lid or back of the screen also has the same skin which has a couple of air bubbles and the edge at the hinge side is lifted.
I checked the hard drive Date of Manufacture which shows a DOM of 2011. I would expect that the Hard Drive being the most commonly failed part and one of the most critical to be a with a newer DOM.
So both machines run good, fast and have the Lenovo solid feel one would expect. Keyboards on both look new, The hinges are tight and function like new and all other features function as expected.
For whatever it is worth I have Lenovo laptops that are 10 years old. Dropped? No problem! Cracked case, yep still running!
Sure I replaced the hard drive and upgrade RAM but these machine are great. So - if you are ok with a good used laptop these are worth the money.

First of all, i'd like to thank the CELL LOCKER team for the great service! Great communication & proffesional attitude! This is one of the rasons i bought mine Lenovo TP X230. The socond is it's my "dream machine" from from it's release last year. According to the deal itself - as i told i asked Cell Locker team lots ot quests before i decide to pay. Well all it was accurate, and all of them cooresponds to what i received actually! I decided to buy "Factory refurb" beacuse of it's bargain price. In fact the unit is absolutely "Like new"! Real deal as i told - the specs are awesome: intel Core i7, 8Gigs of RAM, SSD, Premium display, backlit keyb, huge battery etc. etc. In addition i bought a WWAN adapter - Lenovo GOBI 3000 (i found great price in B&H Photo & Video), also two SDXC cards of 64 gigs (one with expresscard adapter) all that from Amazon. In fact i installed Win 8.1 Pro (came with Win7 Pro) - it become more stable and faster - all the drivers are in Lenovo Support site! Right now i'm engoying it in Eastern Europe and once again i must say a big thank you Cell Locker!
