I've reviewed about 3 amplifiers of these kind before, check my reviews on the other amps.
2 amps where based on the 2020A chipset, the 269FS based on another chipset that resembles 2 amplifiers in parallel, and this on the 808 chipset.

All 4 amps target about the same audience. A ~20W tripath amplifier, that sounds crisp, clean and good.
That being said, the LP2020A+ is a bit better than this one. It runs cooler. By design this amp runs way too hot when running high volumes, or big speakers!
It's max RMS is 20W. You can overdrive it to 30W, but the sound gets too distorted over 20W by soft distortion.

At 20W it's not as clear and well sounding as the 2020A, and not as loud, but it sounds almost just as good!

This amp is just the pure basics, no card reader, no radio. Just a mini-jack and red/white audio plug as input. It has the basic "bass, treble, volume" you find on all amps. With all knobs centered to 12 o'clock the amp plays back ~10W.
Turning either the volume knob all open, OR the bass and treble all open, will make this amp operate at max efficiency (20W).

This amplifier also has a bass boost button, but it doesn't seem to do much of anything. Not on small, nor on big speakers, unless the bass eq is opened, it adds something but not much. I guess it adds some sub harmonics to the sound, but I barely notice it.

With those power levels, this amp which is rated for a 12V 2A adapter, probably does best with a 3A adapter instead.

The only con is that it's flawed by design!
The housing gets too hot in normal operation, limiting the lifetime of the amp.
*Edit: amp overheats only with too many speakers connected to it. I'd recommend 2x6",or 1x8" speaker size driver per channel, no bigger.

I bought this as an upgrade for a Kinter amp for my home made docking station. I am very happy with the upgrade. The Kinter amp worked well but this amp works better in almost every way. The sound quality is similar but this amp has much more punch, especially with the "superbass" button which just adds a little mid-bass.

For such a small amp this thing cranks. I have read it is rated for 20 watts or 25 watts per channel. Whatever it puts out for power it makes good use of it. Very clean highs and decent bass. This unit would certainly be loud enough to use in your car or truck.

Unlike the kinter, this amp hasn't even got warm, not once, even at high volume for long time.

I did notice a light hiss in between songs but not bad at all, only enough to worth mentioning.

Like the Kinter amp you need to find your own 12v power supply. Mine came with a power cord with a connector on one end and stripped leads on the other end. Perfect since I needed solder them. I found that a 2 amp wall transformer worked fine. It also works good using two 6v lantern batteries in series.

It has both a 1/8" stereo jack and a pair of RCA jacks for inputs. You can use either to connect your mp3 player or whatever you play music through. I didn't notice any difference in sound quality between the jacks.

Overall I would recommend this amp to anyone provided they have a little experience with wiring or electronics. It is not "plug-n-play" and comes with no directions at all, so you are on your own to figure it out.

came as described - got the job done for two 3ohm speakers
only problem is that because it is for cars - it does not come with its own power supply and you will need a DC12V2A power supply (the plug on the end should be a cylinder 5mm in diameter)
also, for mine you kind of have to wiggle it around for the power supply to work

Our local service club has a stretched VW bus limo (it's 30 feet long...) and we like to play music during the parade, and have tried several 2nd hand amps and home stereos--using a generator. This device powers two good size speakers and has decent sound quality--probably limited by the $30 speakers--to accomplish our purpose. And it's small--very small!

This is a nice amp for the price, but the Lepai LP-2020A is noticeably louder with less distortion. If you don't plan on getting it loud the LP-808 has more gain/cut on the bass and treble controls and a super bass button that helps small speakers sound better. It's a tripath though and that means more power than you'd expect from something so small and light. The power meters (blue flashing lights on the front) are very bright, if you are using this in an AV set-up place it out of your line of sight so it won't detract from the video. This model runs a little hot, give it room to breath and make sure you get a good power supply because some sellers don't ship these with one. I recommend one of the 6 amp ones marked for LCD Monitors. 12v 6a Adapter Power Supply for LCD Monitor with Power Cord

Put it in my boat. Works great with my old speakers. Can't beat it for the price. Just add an aux cord and your good to go. Great buy for the price.

no its not a powerhouse, but it puts out decent quality sound at moderate levels. the bass boost button isnt an obnoxious tone shift, nicer for lower level listening.

IF the speakers you're listening through are efficient, this little amp can get up pretty good. it takes some experimenting and I've tried 4 different pair of speakers since it arrived a few hours ago with differing results. amp sounds good through my Orion CO500 5-1/4" coax's that replaced the stock 4" cheepos in a pair of sharp brand ported bookshelf speakers. sounded allright through a pair of PLMR82 8" coax's but the little LP-838's forward channels sounded better with those.

lucky I guess, the seller did send the unit with a 2 amp 12v power supply is a bonus for the waiting. no complaint about the nice simple little amp itself, its easily twice the power of the little PYLE (of what?) 2 channel marine amp that cost 3x as much, and doesnt need a headphone preamp between mp3 player and amp like the PYLE (of what?) did, to get a little volume from it.
this amp would be decent for a lot of places, and maybe their LP-2020A+ T-chip amp has slightly more power? for the 11-12 bucks spent this amp is pretty nice!
