An artist and poet, Barbara currently lives in Colorado, where she stays centered and inspired by the Rocky Mountains’ grandeur.

When I first picked up this book I was excited by the title alone. I am intrigued by the drama people create around me, and have often pondered why it is that some people are able to live their lives with reasonable peace and quiet, while others are unable to go more than a few days, even a few hours, without creating drama, or even melodrama.

As a teenager, I went through a series of seemingly unrelated mishaps and traumas events that could have really changed my life if they had continued. At the strong insistence of my parents, I went to EST, a popular self-development seminar, which focused on self-responsibility and self-accountability. Although the concepts shared in this two-weekend seminar were partially responsible for me learning to take responsibility for my actions, my real learning came from the stories that the other participants shared. I heard stories of four and five divorces, all sounding alike. I listened to several people complain about estranged relationships with loved ones and family members. I heard of repeated bouts with alcohol abuse, drugs and crime, and numerous stories of dysfunctional, co-dependent relationships. I thank my lucky stars that I was able at a young age to hear so many of these telling life stories. I left the seminar determined to create a life free from unnecessary drama. I wanted my life to be an adventure, filled with achievement, romance and fun. I learned then that everything that happens to me is of my own making, even when it appears to be the work of another.

I have since been fascinated with people and books that provide a practical framework and approach to taking control and ownership of our lives. I have pored through a ton of books looking for approaches that could help me share the lessons of self-responsibility. The books that have touched me deeply, or provided me with useful approaches are few and far between. Less Drama, More Fun is one of those rare books, one of the true keepers. The copy I reviewed is now littered with dog-eared pages, notes and post it s. I learned some great new distinctions as well as relearned some invaluable insights to life, which I had long since forgotten.

I am certain that everyone who takes the time to read Barbara s book will walk away with some invaluable ideas and approaches to creating a life which is more productive, enjoyable and drama-free.
