The thing I truly loved about this story was the departure from traditional Dom/Sub relationships. This one I suppose we could call a Thinking Man's Dom/Sub relationship. Ethan truly loves, adores and worships Max, but he also respects himself and has limits that do not involve pain of the normal sort. I believe it is this quality that makes Max love him ever more than he could ever have imagined he would love someone.
Both men are in the ultra closeted profession of providing personal security for clients and feel they can not risk anything that would compromise that work or their clients. BUT both men long to have a deeply committed relationship - even down to their own version of marriage.
It is a great story and I am sure you will enjoy it and the entire Sin City Series.
I was provided a free copy to read and review. As with all of Tricia Owens work, this one shows great skill and thought in creating memorable characters.
Max and Ethan are partners, Max the Dom and Ethan the Sub. They have to hide their relationship from everyone. They both feel like they need to work on things in the Dom and Sub aspect of their relationship. So they decide to go on a vacation together.
I have to say I loved these two men together. You get a lot of steam with this book which I thought was so damn hot!!! But you also get the sweet to with the feelings these two men have for each other.
I loved the way this author wrote this story and these characters. This book grabbed me from the start!
I will leave this review with.. I 100% loved this story and would definitely recommend this book!
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.
Ethan and Max travel to a gay resort in Greece that also caters to the BDSM crowd. There, they work on strengthening their bond and reinforcing Ethan’s submission. Their plan is to observe other doms/subs in order to hone their skills a bit. What they discover, and what I love most about these guys, is that theirs is not the typical dom/sub relationship. They are happy and comfortable not having the rules set by others who go by the stricter dom/sub code and end up satisfied with continuing to do things their own way.
There is no questioning the roles these guys play. Max is always super dominant and holds the power over Ethan who is naturally submissive. Some of the best scenes involve Max working Ethan over with nothing more than his voice and perhaps a hand here or there. The steam level of these scenes is through the roof, and they never get old or repetitive.
As with all of the previous stories, their relationship continues to grow and strengthen. Although they must still remain closeted, they have found a way to escape that through their vacation which they plan to make an annual deal. These guys are committed to each other regardless of whether anyone else can know it or not, and I love the ways they find to show that to each other.
These are fast reads, and I am going through them like butter. I’ll be sad when I get to the end, but, for now, I’m excited to jump right into the next one.
I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
First off, I want to say that I have not read any of the previous books in this series.
Ethan is the sub in the relationship, but also is an employee of his Dom, Max. I found this to be somewhat contradictory, as Max seemed to be in need of protection - he is a high profile, wealthy person. From what I can understand without having read the previous stories, it seems that Ethan has had a few run ins with dangerous situations. However, he's good at his job and came out no worse.
In this story, it is not as much about the job, but more about their re-establishing themselves in the roles of Dom and sub.
I think that Owens did a great job at being able to display affection, while not allowing Max to become so passive that Ethan no longer is feeling like he has a Master.
The chemistry between these two men was steamy and despite a few hiccups, I really likes how Owens was able to define Ethan and Max's relationship as their own - it was not a stereotypical relationship.
I wish that the relationship had been a bit heavier on the pleasure/pain aspect, but their power exchange and voyueristic natures in this story were both very hot aspects of the story.
I, hopefully will be able to see what comes next for this couple - as I would love to see Max able to let go more back at home.
