This series is continuing w/ Trey's story next, and I am super excited to read it! I hope that it continues in the similar writing style/story style, because the cadence of Michelle's writing is highly enjoyable for me. This book & Don't Let Go are going on my keeper re-read shelf, and will be go-to books for sure!
Jessa and Grant are characters that I really enjoyed. They are both strong, independent, caring and easy to identify with. Jessa is more of a free spirit with her tattoo's, piercings and short rock chick hairstyle and uncertain plans for the future. While Grant is more your All-American, frat boy, wholesome looking guy who has his plans set for where he wants to go and what he wants to achieve. Their differences only make them more perfect for each other.
There is an instant connection between the two, but with Jessa being with Rob, Grant refuses to be the type of guy who steals another man's girl. After a brief but steamy encounter their feelings only intensify and when Rob up and leaves everything is thrown up in the air.
Jessa and Grant both have pasts that haunt them. When they finally get together it's perfect and their chemistry is amazing but it takes time for them to completely confide in each other. It was fantastic watching both characters grow and develop, and to take what they wanted and deserved.
There was so many things that I really loved about this story....
* Their group of friends are all back and provide the perfect support system for them both.
* Trey's brotherly relationship with Jessa was really great and I loved their witty banter.
* Their bet and their antics to be the winner.
* The way Jessa's father questioned both of them and their answers. Jessa really has the best parents and family support.
AND without a doubt...
* Grant's letters from his mum. This was such a beautiful thing to add to the storyline and showed the deep connection he had with her. The last letter and how, when and where it was opened had me reaching for the tissues. You could feel the love pouring for the words.
Two books into the series and I have loved both. The characters are great and the stories are real. I can't wait for book three to watch the transformation of Trey and to reconnect with the whole gang. I highly recommend you meet and experience The Invisibles.
We start off exactly where book 1 ended off. Jessa just moved into Brady's house, along with Sadie & the rest of The Invisibles band. She's dating Rob. You remember him. The jerk that always gave Sadie crap when she first started dating Brady. We'll Jessa is with him. Nobody knows why. I honestly don't think Jessa knows why half the time. Other then she told him her past & why she transferred schools & he doesn't hold it against her. Poor Jessa doesn't think she'll find another guy who will accept her!
Grant on the other hand. We know from Don't Let Go that his mother died. His father ran off with Brady's mom. Which was why they didn't speak for awhile. We do find out that Grant has a secret of his own. A secret that makes him think he's damaged. He's sworn off relationships, women more then a 1 night & love.
Everybody decides to go to a New Years Eve party. When Rob and Emily (Grant's date) disappear. Grant & Jessa end up sharing a midnight kiss that has them confused & messed up for days after. Grant makes his mind up to stay away from her. He refuses to mess with someone else girl!
Rob decides to ditch The Invisibles to go on tour with another group. Brady calls Grant & he agrees to play with them to help them out last minute. Grant shows up praying Jessa will show up. Jessa shows up & is shocked to see Grant on stage playing guitar. She's instantly turned on even more. Esp since she's never seen Grant this happy & free.
Grant & Jessa FINALLY decide to take the next step. Which I was beyond happy about. Because their chemistry was unbelievable!! Once they got together everything seemed right. They both were able to let their awful pasts stay in the pasts. Somewhat!!
I love that when thing's got hard between them, they both had people to talk to. Grant would have Brady. Brady's dad Mr. C who's still in rehab. But, Grant visit's him every week. He also has a box of letter's from his mom. Which every letter she wrote made me cry!!
Jessa would talk to Sadie & Trey. Oh Trey, how I love him! I'm super excited he's getting his own story next!!
I'm not going to give a lot away. I will tell you that over the weeks, months of Grant & Jessa's relationship. They both have demons in their pasts that they must over come. They both must trust each other enough to tell each other the truth. They have obstacles that will test them. Grant & Jessa must decide if what they have between them is real. They have to figure out how real their love really is. Trust me you'll LOVE this story as much as I did!!
