Honestly, I went in thinking that the story of Canyon and Ari was going to leave me all hot and bothered with lots of sexy times. How wrong I was! Barb explored their heartaches and their relationship with such eloquence I couldn't help but be drawn in by these wonderful characters. I was enraptured with their story line from being to end; unable to put the book down until I found out all that I need to about their lives.
There is to be a book two but this can most certainly be read as a stand alone. If you have not yet discovered Barb Speak's incredible writing style, I would have to wholeheartedly encourage you to do so now. I can not wait to learn even more about Canyon and Ari in book 2!!!
Arianna lost her dad when she was a little girl and her mom got remarried to a high price lawyer and soon received a little sister. So since she grew up with the rich and famous, going go private schools and parties you would think her life was made....That's far from the truth!!
One no night, one mistake would put her life and her families in danger. Witnessing something like this didn't go unnoticed, so her family is forced to relocate. Upon arriving in Montana she meets canyon. Both have pasts they would like yo keep hidden only after he gets a taste of Ari's home life something is similar and he wants to be there to help.
But like always your past can only stay hidden for so long.
This was a book I truly couldn't put down, it honestly had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next blow and hanging onto every page. I can't wait to read more on Ari and Canyon!!!! 5+ star read!!!
Have you ever read a book and found yourself unexpectedly hooked? I read a lot of books. It is not unusual for me to read a book, enjoy then forget the characters or the plot even though I truly enjoyed it. I find myself thinking about these books and these characters several days after having completed my reading.
I actually picked up the first book about 9 on Friday night thinking that I would read for a few moments before going to sleep. The next thing that I knew it was 12:30 and I had finished Let It Be Me. I one clicked Let It Be Us and tried to go to sleep. After about 30 minutes of trying to force myself to go to sleep I gave up and read Let It Be Us. I simply couldn't abandon the characters to the bliss of my sleep without finding out what happened to them.
While many of the books that I read will grip me, this one still hasn't let go. I cried while reading it, which is not unusual, but I am still thinking of the characters and the issues that they have to resolve before they can find their HEA. I actually discussed this book with my husband, which I rarely do.
Another reviewer commented that the voice seemed to be immature. I would argue that this is likely intentional given the age of both Ari and Canyon. The book is written in first person and that character is not quite 18 when we meet her. It seems to me that the author has done a solid job of expressing the thoughts and emotions of a young woman.
This book could definitely use some more editing. There were some misspellings, improperly used words, and some punctuation errors - common errors that would be easily caught by an editor. Don't let that turn you off though - the story is so worth it!!
