Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this 1978 album from the hugely talented musician and producer. He has produced Grammy Award winning artists Whitney Houston, Cissy Houston, Gladys Knight, Luther Vandross, the Detroit Spinners and Deniece Williams. He has also received 13 gold or platinum records for producing, composing and arranging. Let's All Chant was a Disco classic and DJ staple and features an impressive number of musicians including a 12 piece brass section. The title track was a massive hit. It reached the #1 spot in the Disco chart as well as reaching #15 R&B and #38 in the Hot 100. It also featured in the Whit Tillman film the Last Days of Disco. The song is now identified as one of the ultimate classics of the Disco era. Cherry Pop.

Digitally remastered? Hmmm........ Truly sounds as if Side 1 (Tracks 1, 2 and 3) have been recorded from vinyl - many pops and clicks and audible hiss. But wait!, because there's a welcome and immediately noticeable audio clarity and pristine-ness upon reaching Track 4 that remains through to the end of the disc. It's nice to have this album as originally tracked finally on CD, and featuring the original cover art as well, and it's sure a lot easier playing a disc than hauling out the vinyl, but that vinyl sound on a few tracks loses it a star. This set makes a fine companion to the Unidisc-released "The Michael Zager Dance Collection."
The music is definitely disco, even beyond the deservedly well-known 'Let's All Chant.' 'Love Express' is a steady-burning churner and 'Music Fever' is an overlooked musical adventure with wild percussion and instrumentation. The 'Dancin' Disney' medley is great to have on CD - never before released, as far as I can determine, just wishing upon a star it had a little more fire in its belly. Wonderful to have the 12" version of 'Let's All Chant' included in excellent sound quality, though trimmed slightly at the head. The 12" of 'Freak' improves on the original. Overall a good, not great, collection that nevertheless contains a few great moments and one giant bonafide evergreen disco classic.
The remainder is a meandering collection of songs that range from dull, disco-tinged elevator music (“SOUL TO SOUL”) to a dreadful Discofied Disney medley that one can imagine playing at an Ice Capades show circa 1979 while skaters with papier mache Mickey Mouse heads glide around. It’s songs like this that caused the Disco backlash that resulted in thousands of albums being set ablaze that summer.
LOVE EXPRESS is the next-best track but it sounds like something you’d hear on a TV show circa 1979-80 when the action shifted to a nightclub scene rather than a bonafide Disco classic.
