Andie the out of towner to this small village so close to bankruptcy and in need of some inspiration she had no plans to fall in love, she had no intention of eating carbs and becoming the unsong hero, she really just wanted to get to that beach in Miami and have a vacation instead she got stuck with a micro car, the best and most awaken time of her life all while falling in love with the only divorce in the closet woman in Montamore.
Cupid truly played a trick on them 😉 then again he knew all along
This is a very witty feel good book, with several moments that made me laugh out loud, but never loses touch with the heart.
I was given a copy from the publisher.
Neither expected sparks, just a short fling if anything, even though they were both immediately attracted to the other. Andie experiences some culture shock, starting with the mini car, which I wish I could see a picture of. Then there are the narrow streets, cobblestones, a piazza, a pizzeria, and other local features. MacLeod creates the town well enough that I can see it. The countryside and other locations were also well described.
The locals are entertaining, from the grandmother with the binoculars, the neighbors, friends, to the family and everyone else. The story was alternately amusing and romantic and hit all the right buttons. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. When I saw that I was at the 95% mark, I was dismayed because that meant the story was almost over.

Valentina is such a colorful character and a beautiful person at heart, that you cannot help but feel connected to her. The four generations of women provide plenty of laughter and drama throughout the book, then add a brash American celebrity chef and you have a recipe for a delicious adventure. MacLeod has a talent for drawing the reader into the world she creates and giving us a vacation that is a joy to visit again.

US celebrity chef, Andie Bartlett, turns up in the shadow of the ancient fountain – she has been forced into hiding due to a scandal breaking out at home. Obliged to stay in Italy until the story blows over, Andie and Valentina start a tentative friendship which soon leads to something more – is cupid trying to tell Valentina something?
Food, wine, chocolate and the Italian countryside chemically react to make the embers of this sexy slow burn romance ignite until the flames flicker off the pages!
