Zack and Elena have lived down the street from each other most of their lives with Zack being her brothers best friend. When she starts getting letters during her deployment she realizes she has a secret admirer waiting to meet her. Upon her arrival back home on leave though, Zack starts showing interest she only dared to dream of as a younger woman with a persistent crush on him.
This book had a "You've Got Mail" feel to it without the bitter rivalry/simmering hatred part. It was fairly predictable but at the same time enioyable. Zack was a great guy who cared for Lena and showed it by his loving actions. Lena was an accomplished soldier and doctor who apparently worked hard to achieve her goals. This was more of a tell you it happened kind of story instead of experiencing it with the characters. I think if the author had dug a little bit deeper and let us see some moments between a younger Zack and Lena it would have had a bigger impact. Still, the story was highly enjoyable and romantic. I wanted something light that wouldn't bog me down too deep in emotion and that's exactly what I got. I'm pleased to say Beth Rhodes gave me an enjoyable reading experience that I wouldn't mind revisiting again someday.
Lena Rodriguez has heen receiving letters from an unknown writer from her hometown. Is it possible to fall in love with someone through their letters? One such letter invited Lena to meet him on Christmas morning.
Zack Benson is in love with his best friend's sister. When she enrolled in the service he wrote her of his true feelings but keep his identity secret.
Lena is home for Christmas. While she worries about meeting the mystery man she grows closer to the man she's always loved, Zack.
When the day comes and the identity is revealed an accident occurs. The day arrives that Lena must return to her service but Zack doesn't want her to leave before facing Lena with his true feelings.
Lena has had a secret crush on Zack all her life. Zack has had secret crush on Lena since he can remember. But, Zack's best friends with Lena's brother.
I loved the story. I loved the interaction between Lena and her family as well as Zack and her family.
