All I can say is this: YOU NEED TO READ THIS POWERFUL BOOK!!
Perfect for readers of contemporary romance and military books.
Danielle and Nate are the perfect couple. High school best friends turn to lovers. Their love is a journey that I'll always remember. Through her words you can see their love and you want so much more for them.
And then come the tears.
This is the reality of having a loved one in the Army. There are risks and those risks will break, but heal you. I can't say more, but realize that you cannot read this book in public because you will ugly cry!
I recommend this book and hope to see so much more from Rebecca Brooke.
I really liked this book. Danielle is kind of an awesome character, and I think one of the best parts about this book is that you get to experience the whole romance of Nate and Danielle. I actually had a hard time deciding if I was going to be specific with what happens early on in the book, because I almost feel like it’s a spoiler, but then again I don’t think you can review the book without spilling the beans, so hear I am spilling the beans. Danielle and Nate have this great relationship, are totally in love, he enlists and goes to deploy. They get married right before he deploys. The unthinkable happens and he dies.
At this point in the book I was totally heartbroken. The author does such a good job at making the reader really feel what Danielle was going through. It really is such a heartbreaking read. You can’t help but feel for her, and totally understand how she’s in such bad shape. Danielle is lucky though, she has good friends and family who are totally willing to be there for anything and everything she might need, I loved that about them.
Then totally out of left field, Tanner shows up on her doorstep. He served with Nate, and bring a letter back for her from him. It’s of course not an easy thing for Danielle and she explodes on Tanner. But Tanner is just an all around good guy, who has lost his friend, so he takes what Danielle has to give.
Watching Danielle grieve and then start to heal was really fulfilling as a reader. She deserved a happy ending, and I was pulling for her from the beginning. There is really not a bad character in the entire book, they are all really good people who are confronted with a terrible situation and are able to come together and rally around each other.
I really liked this book, and I think anyone who liked military themed romances or new adult books will totally enjoy this book. I highly recommend it.
