4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied overall
By A. McClune on April 14, 2015
We have been pleased with this purchase. We've been using it for about 2 months now since moving my son to his crib. It has night vision, so we can see him at night (though the night vision isn't super clear, but it's decent), and during the day we can see him and his room in full color. We can either leave our screen on all the time, or turn the screen off and it will pop itself back on if he makes noise or starts to cry. One really nice feature is that we can turn on the musical mobile in his room (which stays on until we turn it back off), and turn OFF the screen in our bedroom, and it will only turn itself back on if it detects NEW noise (like fussing). But it can ignore the music from the mobile, if it's already playing. I think that's really handy! Also, we leave it plugged in if it's in our room, but we can also unplug it and carry the monitor around the house (on lithium battery power) when he's napping during the day. I haven't kept track of the battery life, but it's LONG. It can stay off the charger for multiple hours. It has a microphone feature where I can talk to our son to soothe him, and a zoom feature so I can see him a little better, and a volume control when he's crying if we're letting him cry it out for a few minutes. The screen is a nice size and it's easy to use.

My only complaints (and they aren't huge) are that sometimes the monitor will lose signal and turn itself off and on... sometimes over and over. Not sure what that's about, and it makes me nervous. This is not when the monitor is at an unusual distance from the nursery, but in its normal place, in our bedroom. But it doesn't happen all the time. The other thing is that we had to place the camera on a high corner wall shelf in the nursery, and it's farther from the crib than I wanted... I was hoping there would be a way to attach it to his crib or something so that I could see him better. This, combined with the less-than-perfect night vision, sometimes means I can't see him clearly enough and I have to go check on him for my peace of mind.
