I love that the plot begins with both of Adam and Tess join together on a project that makes them both aware of their socialization problem and their feeling for each other after living as roommates for over a year or so. Its great that a little fraternization with other people like Tess not just having one friend Ani for all her life now has Stacy, Hailey, Kyla, Rachel and Cress who is a agoraphobic who never leaves the house but she eventually comes out of her shell as well.
This book has gotten my attention from the very beginning due to friendships that can change and love that can be created even when you do not go looking for it. I love how they all of Tess and her new friends along with Adam and his friends join together to create a video came just to help the three sisters Rachel, Hailey and Cressida to keep and expand their family business and old bookstore. I know their are many people that can relate to the way this story was written being home body just going to work then going home and make that a habit not realizing that they are missing out on a lot at life and accept that as who they are. I know their are many people that want to go out but don't nowhere to start so they just stick with old habits and stay that home body, couch potato and make up excuses as to why they cant go out and enjoy life. Their stuck so I hope this book reaches many that have the same issues as Adam , Tess and even Cressida. I hope that their are many friends of these people help them as well to enlarge and gravity what is going on around them and not just see whats in their circle but grow up and see from outside the circle how they were and who they can become.
This book was great i loved reading every minute of it and hope their will be a sequel because i am ready. I loved how this book was written it is a true romance novel and i would definitely read more books written by this author. In fact i will be searching after this review for more that is generated by a Signup for emails of up coming books through Kindle Downloads. I got interested in this novel when I saw this list of must-read romantic comedies and it was featured as #35 (the list is actually alphabetical according to the book's title). Plus, it didn't hurt that the author herself told that it's free on Amazon at the moment. The story was simple, yet true to life. It was lovely and I genuinely liked it.
I really liked the fact that our heroine did not have a job most romance heroines seem to have - sure, she was still good at cooking, she didn't make it her goal in life and it was really refreshing for me to read about a heroine who felt really strongly about all her fandoms and programming stuff.
While I'm not always a fan of the co-workers and roommates ending up as a couple scenario, I think that Yardley actually managed it really well this time round and it did seem pretty believable to me. Even when I wouldn't have minded it one bit if the story had taken longer to tell.
If you're looking for something simple, true to life, normal, then this might be the book for you. :)
I am a die-hard geek and could relate to the fact that it is much, much easier to click with someone if you share a fandom. It's like a shortcut to becoming friends. I enjoyed the feminist undertone to this book, but also showing that it is also okay to let someone help as well. Feminism isn't about always choosing the career oriented path, you can be a feminist and a house wife. It's all about doing what you want in spite of being a woman. I could get into a tangent on feminism, but I will leave it at that.
The setting was distinct, the characters were well fleshed out, and the writing really came into itself after about 10 pages.
A downside to note is that the editing is somewhat lacking. Another round or two of edits would help to clean this up nicely.
I loved Level Up and cannot wait for the next.
